I know this may seem elementary to most of you, but I am just starting on this project and I literally have no exp. in doing these things my self but I'm wanting to learn and do most of these types of things on my own, anyhow first "major"(minor) thing I have done on this car switched that GOD for-saken stock radio, speakers coming soon. (really good ones!)
started taking things apart

i must say of all this was a disgusting process if you haven't cleaned your vents out you should because there was about 3 inches of pure black dirt and grime behind the surface blowing in my face , cleaned everything with BLEACH
look how bad it was

i guess thats what happens when you rarely drive a car and leave it sitting in arizona

took some time do the wiring with the adapter thing but i did it
now to decide what color?






purple,red, green, yellow, white, light blue, or dark blue ??

my parents got the exact same one in their mini van a toyota previa. talk about deja vu.

by the way nice job and nice choice! it works great plus i love the color change u can match ur interior.

thanks! yea its about a 5 year old deck I kind of forgot I had it from my wrecked 94 celica I'm happy my friend's dad didn't throw it out from his garage and am kind of secretly happy I have something from that car to carry on to this one its a pretty cool deck, dang sony's last forever !

OOo good work! A lot of people have trouble with installing an aftermarket radio because they get confused with the wiring and what not. So this is a +1 for you . No more cassette ipod adapter haha.

haha yea had to get that jab that cassette adapter lol but I am pretty proud of my self took me two hours LOL


I have a power antenna?? pull your vents out i bet they are dirty!! i soaked that **** in bleach for an hour!

yeah the antenna. goes up when the radio is on, goes down when its on cd/auxillary and when you turn the radio off.

lol yeah mine would be more dirty. ill do it when i got my trd quickshifter in my hands and thats not anytime soon

do your a/c fan blower too. i bet its more dirty down there.

Looks real good! LOL But I kinda liked that cassette to Ipod thing you had going on there...

I did the exact same thing as you, installed my speakers and head unit myself as well. I felt a little proud. I also rocked the cassette to iPod thing, it SUCKED because the player clicked.

Actually, I remember when looking at her car, she didn't have a power antenna. It was one that just stayed up all the time. You're going to make her think that her car is broken .

i dont quite remember that her antenna was always up. i need to pay more attention to details and RAM for my brain to avoid short term memory loss.

i thought all trims have the power antenna

nice job! i remember doing that and feeling very proud of myself! i personally like the white background for your deck. or that last light blue. but go with whatever good job!

I know that sony players backlights tend to break and they are high statistics, but that doesnt mean yours will.

No need to put yourself down. We all started on something simple at some point. I botched my first radio job up really bad. Ended up having to fix it 3 or 4 times because I used a lot of shortcuts on the wiring. Youll be doing engine swaps before you know it!

what i did, is with the deck i chose a color and now i try to match all the interior to that, for example my seats have a teal, and my gauges are blue and my deck is blue and my boot is blue (thread), so thats my opinion do what you think will match your interior
