so over the past few days I've put my creation thru its paces... but im running into overheating issues, even at start up.
at cold start, the guage will keep climbing past the half way point and the electric fans turn on as well. Living in canada is **** ing cold so I dont see what is going on. I take the freeway to work and only stop at 2 traffic lights, 22-25 minutes to work. by the time i get there driving at a granny pace (NO BOOST) the guage has peaked just under the top of the guage. Oil, Coolant level is normal and the thermostat is brand new after i stomped on the original 5s-fe one. No leaks! When i got this engine running as a 5s-ge is never had this problem (I put 600kms on it in One day@ regular operating temp) and remember, I rarely boost it going to work now thats its turbo'd. Advice? quesiton me if u need more info regarding this situation. This post has been edited by Mstoochn: Nov 5, 2009 - 5:25 PM |

headgasket leak? you could be blowing exhaust into your cooling system.

broken thermostat maybe, check to see if its opening or not. Also could be exhaust back pressure, check to see if the intake vacuum is sufficient, if not that's your culprit right there.

freddy, what backpressure ? i order a new thermostat from toyota, will see monday.
celicajoe, i current dont have a working climate control panel as i beat the sh*t out of it to pull out my stock 5s ecu, i also destroyed my stock radio to make room for EMS components easy access. I love usb ports. there so handy bitter, unless a compression test wont show a small leak into the coolant passages i can rule that out, still sitting at 210/205/205/205 This post has been edited by Mstoochn: Nov 6, 2009 - 2:34 AM |

cant rule it out, Im currently rebuilding my 3sgte again, hot exhaust gas is leaking into the coolant system. already did a HG, might be a cracked block or warped block. either way im building a sleeved stroker 5sgte.
hope you find your problem out. take your car to a garage and have the coolant checked for exhaust gases. -------------------- |

really? are you guys not seeing what is wrong?? not the thermostat... its the temperature sensor... the fans operate off of it, as well as the gauge.... its reading the wrong temp... replace the sensor
or reconfigure your EMS This post has been edited by pittfirefighter: Nov 6, 2009 - 3:21 AM -------------------- Breaking Axles...

I had almost 1000kms/12-15 hours on the engine and it ran JUST FINE. now its doing this yes, the fans act as moving air when you aren't moving. In otherwords, they simulate air flow thru the rad which you only get while moving. but when the engine is cold there is no reason for them to come on This post has been edited by Mstoochn: Nov 6, 2009 - 2:11 PM |

you can't base throwing a turbo on it to be the reason its over heating, it probably would have happened eventually and just happened to happen when you turbo'd the car, just a conscience,
