Im all about big meets, but I agree with Random, its hard enough to get people together out here in DFW. Sponsors and stuff would be great, and late summer will give me enough time to get everything situated, but it would be nice to know where its going to be before i commit to anything. hmm all about big meets huh? -------------------- Representing the Convertible Crew since 2008 |

My thoughts are towards late summer of the coming year or maybe even the year after that, this way we wont have anyone saying, "oh, I didn't know" or "that's last minute", ya know? And I'm looking into where would be a good spot and pretty much picking a good central area, and then I will contact my contacts at corporate for Yota and see if it would be a doable stuff if we got enough celicas and stuff to commit and show up. Right now, I'm just in the planning/gauging interest part atm. I'm hoping that maybe I can have some solidified/semi-solidified ideas for the plans on where and when by the end of the month. Keep the ideas coming in with some suggestions and all that good stuff and any input.
I'm thinking somewhere in Oklahoma, Kansas, or Nebraska based on time and all that and where the most interest comes from, meaning, if we get a lot of Northeast interest, go with Nebraska, mixed will mean Kansas, and if it's Southeast, we should shoot for Oklahoma. Just throwin out ideas tho atm. Oh, and Faust, We will get a full Cali meet going at the start of next year, and I'll make sure we get a nice turnout. I mean come on, we had 11 members come to a last minute meet not too long ago. I got it. This post has been edited by dabazied: Nov 16, 2009 - 7:16 PM -------------------- |

I'm in for anywhere. Even the coasts, although I know that's out of the question. If there's a Celica meet big enough with enough attention for the 6gc, then I say we go for it. I'm willing to help out however I need to.

I'm willing to help out however I need to. If you want, you can start PMing all the ppl in your state and stuff and just send em the link to this thread and ask them to please leave input. Same with everyone. That way we can make sure the whole community sees it and stuff. And if anyone knows some of the people who don't frequent this site anymore, but still have a celica and you have another way of contacting them, tell them to please check out the thread and leave some feedback. -------------------- |

i would be willing to participate if everything was actually planned out and we have people showing some genuine interest... the idea sounds great but like most people... i am not going to travel cross country by myself in a swapped celi.. theres just too many issues that could arise... if it was some sort of giant caravan... then i would be down... but it has to be something that i would be willing to use a week of my vacation time in order to do... not just a meet and greet and leave...

Of course. Try PMing some ppl in your area/state and surrounding states and send em the link to this thread. I would hope that we could get caravans from all over, that way we can watch each others backs and help if any problems arise. I'm looking at probably it being about a 3 day meet kinda thing, longer for those that want, and shorter for those that wanna just stop by. -------------------- |

Biggest fear that people have is hauling 4000 miles round trip, about $500 spent just to find out that only a couple of cars showed up... not the kind of get together that we see in smaller countries or in bigger cities where driving to location takes 40 minutes. But err dragon is fun to drive on with 9000 cops waiting to catch people having fun

If anything, I can vouch for Richee's attendance just because he said he's also willing to drive to FL.
Good luck getting everything set up people. I won't attend, but it'll be a sight to see in pictures for sure. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I won't attend, but it'll be a sight to see in pictures for sure. You wouldn't be able to come at the end of summer this year or next year even? That's a hectic schedule lol. Yeah, it cost me about $200 to drive from Wilmington, NC(the beach) to Phoenix, AZ. Another tank when I moved from Phoenix to Cali(and that tank would've gotten me to the beach. Mileage will differ from location to location, so that's why the meeting place is gonna be based on where we get the most solid interest from. If it's more north, we go north, more south, we go south, and mixed, then we go right in the middle. If it's not enough interest to get more than 50 ppl on 6gc alone to attend(not counting the other sites I plan on posting on, and other clubs((yotas only, preferably celicas, then supras, mr2s, and camrys))), then we wont have it this coming summer and will shoot for the summer afterwards. I gotta get a good following for this one if we want it sponsored and all that. I talked to my dude at Yota and he was saying that region would work, but I need to get more solid interest of course. Also, he mentioned something about some gas cards to help out with everything(won't cover the full cost, but will help). And all of you members who live in one of the 3 mentioned possible states should have no excuse not to show up ppl, even if for just one day of this meet when its out of theory and more into planning. Again, spread the word people so we can get some feedback. P.S., some of you Canadians should come down too, depending on where you are at, cuz some of you aren't far at all from the area we are looking at. -------------------- |

But sorry, driving a few days for a meet in the middle of the country is a bit ridiculous. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

But sorry, driving a few days for a meet in the middle of the country is a bit ridiculous. I feel ya on that. That's why if we do get enough possible interest and things start coming together, we will figure out where, and then plan out some cool things to do and see along with the meet. It's probably about a 22 hr drive from you to OKC which isn't too bad, but definitely a long way if you are busy/the turn out wont be great. Tryin to prevent the second thing from happening by getting some ideas off ppl now. Figure there's no better time to start getting this set up than now, earlier the better. -------------------- |

Well...there are a lot of things you can do as far as what is going to happen at the meet. For example, out here there was an ATS meet (its a local shop, specializes in MR2's, swaps, etc). What they did was have a 3 day meet in which people had to pay an entry fee. In these 3 days they had seedoo excursions, dyno/tune day, track time, a little drive, BBQ. Im sure that someone here went to it and can shed more light on what they did. But its an idea. Get some sponsors, do a meet/greet, dyno/tune days, stuff like that. Even if it was two days but you had things going on Im sure youd get a better turnout.

I do admit that if the event was Toyota sponsored, free shwag, a little track time, maybe dyno time, would be awesome. However, I don't see why Toyota would care. Sadly.
dabazied, 22 hours sounds about right. Quite a distance. But I'll be keeping my eye on this thread anyway. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I think the entry fee thing isn't such a good idea for us, just because we *fingers crossed* will have people spending loads on gas and stuff like that coming halfway across country for some of us. But, once we get some more people in the maybe pile, we will decide on an area, get the sponsor stuff worked out, then figure out what there is in the area to do and plan out some details on what we should do by popular vote. And Swiss, Toyota has no sporty cars out at the moment. They are doing good on the sales that they have. To see if the company wants to roll out some newer sporty cars or bring some back from the dead(per the guy I've been talking with), a nice little car show/Yota sponsored meet would help gauge interest on doing something like that and re-expanding their line up. Gets their name out there more, shows what they used to be, and sees if there are enough people wanting to see some great cars from toyota. If they get enough people to come to a show, and get good reviews from people looking, then bam, they are more likely to put out a sporty car WITH a Yota badge. That's just how he explained it to me. Also, depending on when this happens(meaning this or next yr) there is a possibility of them bringing out the new mystery car that they HAVE been working with subaru on to show it off. I agree with not having an entry fee as well....I think they used it to cover some costs. The only problem I would see with sponsors, is that the local sponsors would have a problem selling their stuff to people who are not locals. For example, if I want to get the celica's interior redone, im not going to drive out of state to do it....

Well, so far, all I have is Yota, so after we get more organized I will start contacting local places in the area to see if they wanna sponsor in the way of maybe something discounted or if they do some sort of service, make it so that it would be pretty much done while at the actual meet or whatever, just simple stuff.

I would totally go to test drive that, kinda what Hyundai did with their Genesis tour.
