I think I killed my turbo. It doesn't look to good. I added an oil reallocator to the car. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad61/do...1-21_231434.jpg
After 3 days later my old pressure light cut on and I started hearing a scratching sound then boost went to zero. I pulled over right a way and had the car towed home. There was no oil leaks anywhere. I pulled of the air filter and took a picture of the inlet. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad61/do...1-21_214320.jpg Should I have it rebuilt or should i get CT27 or upgrade? I know if I upgrade I will need a new manifold. http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad61/do...1-21_231145.jpg I want to get 300-350 HP if possible if I upgrade. |

ouch sounds like you should figure out the oil problem first though man, obviously it wasn't getting to your turbo. It all depends what you want to do for the turbo, I would ask manny, he went the CT 27 route and i think he wished he went with a different turbo I'm not too sure i think i remember reading that. so pm him or im sure he'll chime in soon enough.

If it wasn't getting to the turbo, its not going through your whole motor. I think you swapped the IN and OUT lines.

If I can stick with the CT20b i guess that is the easiest and I thought I read it was better that the CT26 and CT20. If I have to change the manafold, downpipe and turbo then I'm not sure what to get.
Turbo: http://www.atsracing.net/CT27.htm http://www.turboneticsinc.com/t3-t4b_turbochargers http://www.timsturbos.com/Pricing.html Manafold: TURBO-MANIFOLD-3SGTE-SW20-CT20B I need to get something soon. It's getting cold. I can't keep taking my bike to work. If it wasn't getting to the turbo, its not going through your whole motor. I think you swapped the IN and OUT lines. I'll re-check tonight after work. I thought I did it right. I plan to install an oil pressure sensor on the filter tonight too. |

The flow looks good. I just thought adding an oil cooler would help increase performance. |

same as the CT20B in spool and in power. I would have to change the manifold and the down pipe. Is it worth it? I don't think I can find any one to rebuild the CT20B. I'm looking on-line for places. I don't want to take the cheap way out. Yes you are correct. But you can buy GEN3 Exhaust manifolds for cheap (50USD) and pick a GEN3 CT20B for around 500usd. As far as the DP, you can buy one for the GEN3 and spend as little or as much as you like...they range from 60-300usd. If money is not an issue, then I would buy a bigger turbo kit for you car...Like an S252, GT3071, or td06. This will fix your problem, be an upgrade, max out your injectors, etc. The only down side is it will cost you about 800-1500 more then replacing your turbo with a CT20B turbo setup from a GEN3. --------------------

Thanks Jim
Will a GEN3 Exhaust manifold give me the flow I want if I upgrade the turbo? Would that one I found on Ebay work? CELICA-CT26-TURBO-MANIFOLD-3SGTE-SW20-CT20B 3S-GTE-Turbo-Manifold-Down-Pipe Is this the turbo? ats_racing_td06_turbocharger Will my stock block and head be able to handle the upgraded turbo? Do I need to upgrade the valves, cams and gears too? |

Do I need to upgrade the valves, cams and gears too? Yes, a stock GEN3 Exhaust manifold will flow PLENTY for what you will be doing with it. there is no need for an aftermarket manifold, and the one you posted is prone to cracking. As for the downpipe you posted, that will work fine. As for the turbo, Your stock long block will be PERFECT for this turbo. You will be pushing in the ball park of 350whp at 17-18psi, and it will be perfectly safe. This post has been edited by _Jim_: Nov 24, 2009 - 7:20 PM --------------------

350whp...... really!! That's oly 100 hp less than my mustang.
what FCD did you use? I'm hoping that will fix my acceleration issue. When I accelerate too fast the car bogs. This post has been edited by speed-CCNP: Nov 24, 2009 - 9:18 PM |

Yes, you should see around those number +/- 10whp. And VERYYY Nice mustang by the way, you have apparently put a lot of time and money into, well done....I cant wait to see what you do with the Celica The FCD I used was for an SRT4/DSM. It is a symtech. It is a 5v active map clamp style FCD. A FCD will only fix boost/fuel cut when excedding 18psi. If you are bogging below 18psi, something else is to blame. --------------------

Hahaha, you just WANT a nice shiny exhaust manifold dont you LOL. I dont see a downpipe listed in the description so I assume you will have to have one made, and that turbo is BIGGG. I bit bigger then you may want. I mentioned the S252, GT3071, and TD06 because they are some of the best turbos to use when teamed up with the stock GEN3/4 ECU and injectors.
Contact Baktash here on the site, or visit his website at EMSPowered.com. He is running a thanksgiving day discount on his turbo kits, contact him for pricing and tell Him I sent you. I Personally own one of these turbo kits, and they are incredible in quailty, design, and price....you wont be disappointed. --------------------

Thanks, I have had this stang for 4 years now. Almost time to sell it. I get a new one every 3 - 5 years. I plan to work on my '68 stang next. I will look for the FCD tonight. perfect!! I will try to contact him now. Thanks This post has been edited by speed-CCNP: Nov 24, 2009 - 9:40 PM |

Those ebay exhaust manifolds you posted are junk. A lot of people have had problems with them.

I took Jim's advice and contacted Baktash. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. I bought one on his turbo kits (S250).
He said the same thing about the ebay exhaust manifolds, stay away from them because they crack. Baktash found me a stock GEN3 exhaust manifold to use. As I install the new turbo I will post my progress. Thank you all for help. |

I am using Garrett GT3071R Turbo from ATP (.64A/R) and it kicks exactly from the same point as my previous turbo (CT20b).
3071R On my last dyno (i month ago) i had 331Whp @ 1.2bar. The response of that turbo with 3SGTE is amazing. This post has been edited by Magic: Nov 26, 2009 - 10:50 AM |
