Hey thanks for the reply, i checked up w/ the Toyota ppl they said thats not a part number or possibly there could be missing digits. Does anyone know?

the only other number written on this one is[699-oy43]

Part numbers for the fog light switches I have listed in my records are:
84165-20040 for 94-96 and
84165-20060 for 96-99

The previous owner installed fogs, my switch is in that circle.

Thanks for that, are these part numbers for RHD or LHD? My car is RHD btw, but if its interchangeable then should be sweet

This thread inspired me to hook up my jdm fogs, so I bought a rear fog button to use for the front fogs. This is what I got..





The guys on the celica club uk forums (nix in particular) said it looks like a button for 96+ rear fogs. A bit different from the 4 pin buttons you guys have. You can see in the last pic I separated the colors that look similar to what someone posted earlier in this thread. I tried hooking them up and got nothing. Any ideas? Can you diagram gurus find one with an 8 pin button instead of a 4 pin? Thanks.

I've been thinking about this for a while and did a search to find it. I haven't been able to track down a source for the part numbers that have been listed: 84165-20040 and 84165-20060. There also isn't much of an explaination as to why there are two different part numbers. Maybe the first number was for the 6 pin that only controls the rear fogs and the later was for the 8 pin that added another feature? the wiring diagram earlier in this post was for the 6 pin.

I'm not coming up with much when searching UK part numbers.

Wait, never mind. I see what you're saying now. Ugh. This puts me in the same boat.

How did you connect them? My thinking would be that
1= don't worry about it
2= Illumination (+)
3= Relay
4= Ignition (although common sense tells me the red only wire would be ignition, or battery)
5= Ground
6= Illumination (-) ?

I'm guessing the pins that we don't need to use were intended to somehow operate the fog light illumination on the instrument panel.

All you need to do is sit down with a multimeter and figure out which circuits get connected when the switch is closed. Besides that figure out which pins are for illumination.

From the diagrams it looks like you had to have the headlights and the rear fog lights on in order to turn on the front fog lights. There may be a circuit in the rear fog light switch that the front fog lights run through. You could also pull it open and see whats inside.

Hi guys, Im trying to install UKDM fog switch into my JDM GT4. It already has the rear lights converted in have fogs in them as in the UK you must have them by law.

The previous owner must of done this as there is a switch to turn them on and off in the air vent, but its only a aftermarket rocker switch, I would like to replace the switch with my new toyota Celica OEM fog switch.

How do I wire it in as the wire harness behind the vent has 3 wires with connectors and my new OEM switch has 8 wires.

What wires do I need to use in my new switch to make the fogs turn on.

Same as the top picture. Has 8 pins with a white connector with 8 different coloured wires.

I have 3 wires already fitted to a fog light relay from the previous owner, I just want to replace the aftermarket 3 pin rocker switch with the OEM 8 pin switch, but I have no idea what wires from the 8, to connect to the 3 that are already behind the air vent.

Ok I have found out a bit more info on the UK 8 pin fog light switch.

Each pin connected to the PCB has the following printed next to the solder where the pins join the circuit board.

1 - L
2 - Illumination (+)
3 - B
4 - HR
5 - LH
6 - FS
7 - E
8 - Illumination (-)

I have no idea what 1,3,4,5,6,7 mean tho.

Good Idea, I never thought about taking mine apart. I'll have to take out the multimeter when I get home and do some more testing. Ill post up any results.

Well, the illumination is right (2+ and 8-). I hooked them up to a 9V battery and the led lit right up. When I find my multimeter Ill do some more testing. Can someone with the 6 pin do what Wintersun did and take theirs apart and post what letters are for what pins? Maybe if we find some common letters we can get a little closer to figuring this out.

i'm also trying to install the 8 pin switch into my GT-4 right now and also figured out the names of the pins, like listed above.

i also have a wiring diagram which tells us what these do...

i'll try to upload it in a few days,

basically with the 8pin switch it is possible to run in when 2 conditions are fullfilled:
- headlights on
- front fogs on

the 8 pin switch gets an input form the front fog relay and all the rest comes from the headlight sw and illumination.

That is not exactly correct... I have not had fogs from stock on my old ST but this button was functioning. So just headlights on is enough IMO.

1 - L = to rear fog indicator light on dash, color = R
2 - ill + = tap into any ill source on dash
3 - B = from fuse ECU-B (so +), color = G-R
4 - HR = from HEAD relay (A2 side of the relay/coil) so that fog only operates when lights are ON, color = R-Y
5 - LH = to light control switch/ daytime running light relay pin "H" (sits on top of integration relay), color = R-B
6 - FS = from front fog light relay (A2 side of the relay/coil) , so if you don't have front fogs or relay -> earth to chassis ground, color = G-B
7 - E = other side of the dash indicator light, goes to junction block Nr 3, pin 3A, color = W-B
8 - ill - = earth to chassis ground or ill - anywhere in dash

Would it be possible to simply connect one of the wires to a +12V source and another wire to the 85 pin on the relay?

in that case i think you need to do this:

1 - L = leave open
2 - ill + = switched 12V +
3 - B = switched 12 +
4 - HR = ground
5 - LH = leave open
6 - FS = ground
7 - E = leave open
8 - ill - = ground

thats 2 wires, + and -

+ to pins ill + and B
- to pins HR, FS and ill-
