CURRENT with painted wheels:
I figured I might as well start a progress thread since I have a lot of spare time at the moment. When I first bought the car it was just a form of temporary transportation until I could find something newer, until I found this site o_O. I stumbled across the car on autotrader.com and couldn't help but notice the perfect condition it was in. Perfect paint, pristine grey leather interior, and flawless under the hood. I was only tentative because of how little power it had, but it gets great gas mileage so that's a plus. I first fell in love with 6th gens playing gran turismo 1 back in the day, and always wanted to have a gt-four. Here are a few photos since I bought her about a year ago: New wheels: In desperate need of spacers/better offset: 20mm spacers installed in the rear, along with clear sidemarkers and corners: lowered on megan springs and KYB shocks w00t Lacking front flushness, in need of spacers: The other day installing new speakers: New shift knob + 7th gen short shifter Much more to come. QUOTE (14:19:21) Daniel: That was a JDM hole in the side of the box too. There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. QUOTE Ferdi says (11:29) No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings. |

It's looking reaaally good! May I ask what the offset was on your wheels before you added the spacers?

Thanks! That gives me a good idea of which spacers I'll need to order. Oh what are the specs of your wheels? ie Size and width, along with your tire size .

Thanks! That gives me a good idea of which spacers I'll need to order. Oh what are the specs of your wheels? ie Size and width, along with your tire size . Wheels are 17x7. Tires are 215/40/17, but I want to scrap them for 225/45/17 for a more aggressive look and better performance/better ride quality. The current tires make the car look too wimpy and top heavy IMO. Hmm I have 225/40R17 on my car right now, but my rims are 17x7.5. They are a bit too wide for my suspension set up and high offset rims. I need spacers because my tires were hitting my coilovers. I had to raise my car up higher, and I'm not happy with how it looks at all. -------------------- |

Hm well I'm trying to go for this look with the tires: http://www.6gc.net/photo/member/60/15 I think my car sits a lot higher than yours and plus I will have spacers front and rear making my offset +25. Hopefully I won't have any rubbing issues. I just love the way they fill out the wheel wells on art and manny's cars. Makes the car look like a beast. Although they actually need it for traction while I'm just going for the looks |

Lately I've also been wondering why the front of my car sits so high compared to the back o_O
The megan springs are supposed to lower it 1.6" front and 1.4" rear, but the front only appears to be about 0.8-1.0" lower. Any thoughts on why this is? Is it because the 7afe weighs less than the 5sfe, making the springs settle not as low? I know for a fact it weighs about 100-150 lbs less than the 5s. More mods and more pics please I can't help noticing that 3SG_____ in your plate, Is it a sign? Or can't you do it in California? Haha that's actually the original plate that came on the car in 1996. Just a coincidence. California has some pretty strict guidelines for swaps, but I'm still planning on doing a swap I'll find a way. This post has been edited by flyinglizard: Dec 15, 2009 - 4:56 AM |
