CURRENT with painted wheels:

I figured I might as well start a progress thread since I have a lot of spare time at the moment. When I first bought the car it was just a form of temporary transportation until I could find something newer, until I found this site o_O. I stumbled across the car on autotrader.com and couldn't help but notice the perfect condition it was in. Perfect paint, pristine grey leather interior, and flawless under the hood. I was only tentative because of how little power it had, but it gets great gas mileage so that's a plus. I first fell in love with 6th gens playing gran turismo 1 back in the day, and always wanted to have a gt-four.

Here are a few photos since I bought her about a year ago:

New wheels:

In desperate need of spacers/better offset:

20mm spacers installed in the rear, along with clear sidemarkers and corners:

lowered on megan springs and KYB shocks w00t

Lacking front flushness, in need of spacers:

The other day installing new speakers:

New shift knob + 7th gen short shifter smile.gif

Much more to come.

No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings.

It's looking reaaally good! May I ask what the offset was on your wheels before you added the spacers?

Thanks! That gives me a good idea of which spacers I'll need to order. Oh what are the specs of your wheels? ie Size and width, along with your tire size smile.gif.

Wheels are 17x7. Tires are 215/40/17, but I want to scrap them for 225/45/17 for a more aggressive look and better performance/better ride quality.

The current tires make the car look too wimpy and top heavy IMO.

Hmm I have 225/40R17 on my car right now, but my rims are 17x7.5. They are a bit too wide for my suspension set up and high offset rims. I need spacers because my tires were hitting my coilovers. I had to raise my car up higher, and I'm not happy with how it looks at all.

kindasad.gif Hm well I'm trying to go for this look with the tires:

I think my car sits a lot higher than yours and plus I will have spacers front and rear making my offset +25. Hopefully I won't have any rubbing issues.

I just love the way they fill out the wheel wells on art and manny's cars. Makes the car look like a beast. Although they actually need it for traction while I'm just going for the looks laugh.gif

It does look really good. In the words of 808Celica, I think you should go Moar Lowerrrrrrr hahaha. Hmm.. do you think you'll have the front spacers by the Celica meet next month?

Yeah I agree it does need to be lower. And I most likely will have the spacers by then.

Lately I've also been wondering why the front of my car sits so high compared to the back o_O

The megan springs are supposed to lower it 1.6" front and 1.4" rear, but the front only appears to be about 0.8-1.0" lower. Any thoughts on why this is? Is it because the 7afe weighs less than the 5sfe, making the springs settle not as low? I know for a fact it weighs about 100-150 lbs less than the 5s.

Haha that's actually the original plate that came on the car in 1996. Just a coincidence. California has some pretty strict guidelines for swaps, but I'm still planning on doing a swap wink.gif I'll find a way.
