My auto went out on me while driving.

I was doin about 45 and without any noise, it felt like it went into neutral. Pusing the gas did not accelerate the car; just reved the engine. But the speedometer ran up saying i was doing 120ish. I was free coasting.

While still coasting I fliped it into neutral (thinking i had disengaged the drive by accident) and neutral acted perfectly fine. Just like it should.

Popped it back into drive; and same thing. Engine reved normally, but the car was not accelerating.

So i coasted into a gas station parking lot. Put the car in park and popped the hood. While the car was in park; as i let off the break the car rolled back, like it was in neutral.

So i got it home now, Ran threw all the gears/modes (w/e) (PRND1L) and they all act the EXACT SAME! When shifting BACK into park from gear, it makes a grinding noise. So I checked the fluid but no metal shaving, pieces teeth or anything else. Bands are all still good as well.

Calling it a night for now, But what ya'll thinking? Engagement/pressure plate not hitting? There IS...well... WAS fluid (till i started taking the tranny apart laugh.gif ) But no leaks.

Second guess me guys!

Oh yeah, BTW. I know. I'm Back. It took 3 min for 2 people to already notice rolleyes.gif

my A245E is acting in a similar way, but no spazzing out speedometer and i have a pretty specific set of circumstances.

will increaseingly fall out of gear when in TCC lockup in either 4th or 3rd gear at speeds above 45mph after being in TCC for several minutes or less or more. will free rev in any selected gear range for a brief period of time. with solenoid connector unplugged transmission drives normally running on manual selected hydraulic shifts only without 4th and TCC. i'm suspecting that it may possibly be a bad solenoid or a short somewhere causing my issue, a solenoid could be coming open or going closed at the wrong time and causing fluid pressure to be vented from the TCC circuit and then the trans acts like its in neutral.

that or i have a failing one-way clutch going on, but its too intermittent for that i think. fluid is clean/new and unburnt with no hint of smelling bad. its such a sudden thing, i don't think its a pressure issue causing a slipping tcc (bad seal) or a worn out tcc. but i've done pretty much zero diag beyond some reading of troubleshooting in my factory manaul.

sounds like an auto bad solenoid, I did a write up on that when I had the same symptoms, it did fix it when I changed the solenoid.

I Don't know it could be the cable. Sounds like the transmission is not engaging. If it was the Solenoid it usually starts to give you heads up of it going bad. It just doesn't fully slip at once and then crap out there. Seems like there is more to it. Plus he mentioned how he had it in park and it still rolled. Seems like the transmission is stuck in "N" it's not even setting the parking brake. If the transmission's solenoid did go bad it would still be able to go into gear but either slip really bad and give a good hard thump. Also the parking brake would still work no? I wouldn't think right off the bat the transmission finally took a crap. Just what I think though.

Yes sir. That's why i doubt it's the solenoid. There are no hard thumps. just a little rubbing noise as you put it back into park.

Now, i know for a fact the cable was infact in the proper place when i was taking the tranny apart. So that's a bust. Thanks anyway.

The only thing I could find is something relating to the valve body "vehicle does not move in any forward postition.....manual valve.". I really need to get that a140e manual. Sweet god I found it online here. Its a PDF, so do a search for "manual valve". Good Luck!

i sort of glazed over the whole 'wont got into park' part. i have seen parking pawls break inside of transmissions and the manual valve shaft sheer before on toyotas.

GT. but it's manual. Witch means my dream swap!! That is fine by me but Elise was promised some of the parts on that, and the d/s axle. So i'd have to haggle DEATH for it laugh.gif Besides, i've already taken my share. It's about time for me to start paying and stop stealing parts for my labors. rolleyes.gif

And depending on how bad Elise has gotten, Death may or may not be willing to budge on them. Let's face facts, I'd rather see Elise running and part Rei-Okie for the next project.

I've got so many problems with her, but I'm totaly down to do the work. It's just going faster than i can afford. I'm just a humble welder. Paid Weekly.........

..... Very weakly.....

Well, if he drove like a normal person... (on the track)...

Then maybe some of those parts would be more accessable. lol.

I'm gunna talk with them soon, i may just do the whole damn swap. T-spoon had engine knock. Not tranny prob. So i'll just clean her up, slap her in, and call it a day. I may be able to get every stitch of what i need... We all know it's not going to sell as fast as NgoFcukway wants. I can always work something out with him & DEATH. No worries. We're all part of another club or two as well.

Hey D-Man sorry to resurrect this thread, but I actually have the same problem with the car im selling.. its a GT manual.. In my case the speedo was moving up just like yours and not moving anywhere, and I was also hearing a grinding noise.. my transmission was also leaking fluid from the passenger side axle too.. did you ever figure out the problem?

Check to see if you axles are still plugged. along with other things i had ripped a knuckle off laugh.gif and the rest wasn't spinning. But there was other problem with the tranny as well.

crawl under there and check man, make sure it's tight.

BTW: Swapped my tranny auto to manual. Problem-Solution biggrin.gif
