Hi there all... i have a slight problem.When i turn my car on and drive four about 3 km the light for the oil turns on (yellow color not red) I changed my oil 2 days ago,i put in a Castrol 5w 40 and a new oil filter in it,but it is still doing that. Should i be worried?

5w40?! should be 10w30 for warm temp, 5w30 for cold temp bro. unless its REALLY high milage

sure? That is what they told me on Toyota Slovenija.My Celica has 162000 km... not that much 100000miles. What would be the diference between 5w 30 10 w 30?

5w40 is a great full synthetic for below freezing temps to reduce engine ware, but its not rated above freezing for our vehicles

5w30 is a lmore viscous form compared to 10w30, 5w would be more "watered down" and flow more, at the same time, on a high milage engine that thinner oil could leaker MORE. in your case, it looks like ur burning oil becuase your using SUPPPER ****ING THIN OIL THATS FULL SYTHETIC!!!! i would suggest semi-sythetic 5w30, or 10w30 if you live in a warmer climate.

let it sit for a day or 2 and start it up, give it a bit of gas and have someone watch for blue smoke out the tail... if thats not the case, start looking for leaks

ammm thnx for telling.... what if it is blue smoke? i dont get it:D if the car goes still like hell performance is great,the only thing is that light... amm i hope that it is not a engine problem kindasad.gif

blue smoke = oil being burned in the combustion chamber, so the piston rings are showing signs of wear OR ur damn oil is just too thin lol. this wont cause a performance issue, but of course if you drive it hard alot.. this sort of thing in bound to happen. its not really a problem unless you put 10w30 in it and it still happening... thicker oil should be held back by the oil ring better

there is always the chance the sensor is just F'd.. not likey tho, did u check the oil level? or just look at the oil light..

the oil level is perfect,since the oil change i didnt make 100km.I will make sure to pore the right oil in it.... biggrin.gif Thnx a lot. have a nice new year........ again thnx Chears From Slovenija
