Ok here is the deal. My 95 celica had blown tailights on it.
So i replaced them with new bulbs. So when i hit the break WITHOUT the lights on they dont light up at all. With the lights on they will glow in the back.
Now if i hit the break when the lights are on they dont get brighter.
The reverse lights work fine. The top brake light doesnt work and we just replaced the bulb.
Any help with getting this fixed will be highly appreciated.
I was thinking the brake light switch went bad? Something to that extent. I also looked at the fuses they look old but not broken. I will trying to replace them today though.

Recap

No front headlights on= when braking nothing happens
Front head lights on =they glow, dont get brighter when i hit the brake and the top one wont work at all with either lights on or off.

Are you sure you got the correct bulbs for your brake lights? They should be 1157, which have two filaments, one for constant illumination and one for additional brightness when braking. 1156 bulbs are single-filament, used for the rear turn signal and reverse lights.

And make sure that you have actually replaced the taillight bulbs. As mentioned above, they are dual filament.
