I've looked into rebuilding my 5S, and I found that by the time I pay a mechanic to pull the engine out of my car, buy the parts, rebuild the engine and drop it back in, I was better off to buy a rebuilt engine from Jasper that has a warranty.

if you are just refreshing the engine (IE, bearings, rings, seals, ect), and are not planning on boring the cylinders, you can buy the parts to rebuild it yourself for ~5-700

i just priced the parts for a 7A. it was about 500 for new bearings, rings, and gasket kit. get the toyota BGB and do all the work yourself.

I got a used (60k miles) 7A-FE for only $650 shipped to my door. It works fine too, just replace all the maintenance items, timing belt, water pump, valve cover seals, ect. and it saves alot! of time and a ton! of money.
This would be the direction i would suggest to you, if your just looking for a new reliable engine that will get you from point A-B Unless you are planning to rebuild with much better internals and bore it out, so do some kind of turbo, then i suggest just getting a use engine, you can find them pretty cheap on ebay... just keep your eyes open -------------------- |

Look into a used engine, just do some research! and if it makes u feel better i got 124k out of my old 7A-FE cause the first owner beat my baby up! deff look into the reliability of the swap places! my friend got robbed at one of those places, leaving his civic overnight, but couldnt prove it was them..I think it was personally i went with him and they were shady. do your research first! is all i can say-
