Actually Summer is a good time, although I have been wanting to set up something official in June so it is sort of themed and always anticipated. 6gc in the 6th month (June). That way summer has kicked in, it isn't as hot as July or especially August (as we know cars tend to fail in the hotter seasons and long distance trips).

Also, setting up a route on a time schedule will be helpful. Some of us tend to be late and it holds the rest of us back. From previous meets, most of us have ate up most of the day sitting in the parking lot waiting for everyone. This time, we want to get the most out of our meet. So we plan on setting up a mapped time schedule for the spots we will be hitting up, location, and the time we are expected to be there. That way if you are running late, you can meet up with the rest of everyone at one of those check points. Also, you will know exactly what we are doing and where we are doing it at, so there is no confusion.

From previous meets, we have been waiting on people only to later have them call us back and say "Hey, just tell me when you get to the final spot", which sucks because everyone was waiting. This appears to be the best way to go about it, so approximate times given will help with the confusion. I recommend for any of you attending this meet to (once the final solution is posted), to make sure you copy and print the schedule to avoid confusion, take something to navigate or the numbers of people on here you can rely on in case you seek direction.

I am really looking forward to this, as the days are longer in the summer, so we have plenty of time.

Faustino, I appreciate it that you are coming up with ideas with windowlicker. And I also understand since you decided not to attend the Foty meet, that you wouldn't understand what the Moty meet would be about. It is not just standing around in a parking lot, so don't get the wrong idea.

Scheduling and events are already being handled. We are already working on a very tight time schedule, so just sit back, get your car ready prior to the meet, and show up on time is all we ask. If anyone has any special needs, then please bring it to the attention of either CAMAricer or myself, and we will try our best to accommodate for you.

Nics, the reason we will not be hosting the meet in LA is because this is an ALL California meet. You have to take into consideration that there will be people driving all the way from Sacramento or possibly further just to attend this meet. Another reason we would like to avoid LA, is because we would like to avoid traffic as much as possible. Trying to keep a large group of 20+ cars together in a busy traffic area has proven to be too difficult in the past. But we will be hosting the Moty meet in SoCal, because the Foty meet was held in NorCal. So the Moty meet will not be too far of a drive from LA, considering that you will have people driving 5+ hours from up North.

So people just stay tuned. Also, please refrain from posting any unconfirmed information unless it is posted or approved by the event host (CAMAricer). Any unapproved plans that are posted will only clutter the thread and cause confusion for other members if it conflicts with the actual event itinerary.

i agree 100%, the last meet i drove to down in L.A. was as Faust said but even though i was late to the Foty meet in Isleton is was so well organized that we still had a wonderful time and there was never a dull moment, i have full trust that CAMAricer and Maskedman have this well under control. i can't wait.....

Nothing is 100% confirmed yet, but we would still like to try and keep the thread as organized as possible. Suggestions are always welcome, I don't want you to think that we are completely shooting you down. It would just be better to discuss it with CAMAricer via PM as much as possible, so that people will not have to scroll through 15+ pages of discussion, just to find out what the official agenda for the meet will be.

Thank you for your support AJ. With the extended daylight and the warmer weather, we are hoping to add a better variety of events and photo opportunities.

so is it just you(derrick) and camaricer that are planning this event? i thought it would be nice to have people from their region plan an event. that way people who are familiar with their area can share some of the great spots they know about. it would be kinda weird if i planned a norcal meet, cause i don't know much about the area. i had some great ideas that were actually very practical and realistic, but if you already have plans set then whatever. i'm just thinking that if we have different people, but serious and organized people plan different events, then it could make each meet a little more unique and interesting to go check out.

This coming from Faust? lmao......

But yeah, ummmm, honestly, plans are great and all but feels kinda rushed and almost never works out according to plan. I'm down for whatever, but flying by the seat of your pants and having a general guideline definitely worked great in the past(minus a few ppl holding us up by being late, hint hint). But that can be avoided by having a nice little general guideline

Oh, and Derrick, my input and stuff is, are you going to try and do a "dry" meet? Us so-cal peeps like us some good alcohol, in moderation of course. If nothing else I could just mainline it and set up a nice IV drip behind my seat biggrin.gif Anyways, if you have some not set in stone plans so far, why not share, that way majority can throw in some input and we can get a feel of what's going on through those heads and throw some ideas out there so everyone can feel they had some input in the meet other than just showing up. Plus, I agree with Chris on the whole Norcal plan theirs, with input of the other members, Socal plan theirs with input of other members. Just works better that way and it's kind of a cool way to have everyone active in this thing, it'll hold interests better than just, oh, this is what we are doing, show up, ya know? ..... And no initial meet at that Barnes and Noble in LBC. That was horrid.

i hope this thread gets cleaned cos it would be a shame to loose potential guests to this confusion, i will say my 2 cents and shut up and wait for more info from the event HOSTS CARAricer and Maskedman.

i understand the thurst for info but all i need to know is where and when to show up as having been to the last meet i know it will be extremly well organized and fun with games and prizes for all, the HOSTS have asked that any suggestions be sent in the form of a pm not posted to the thread but still it keeps going, trust me guys these two know what they are doing and don't need to be second guessed. just wait for info and know this will be a great day.

as for the "dry meet" i don't think it needs to be said, drinking and driving is not recommended in any form let alone when there is 20 or so cars drawing attention to you but if you need to drink i hope it would be handled sensibly.

so i close with this, CAMAricer and maskedman know what they are doing so let them do it, quit posting up negative comments and trying to take over, they will research and have the perfect location and have a full event itinerary for us and will have us talking about how great it was for months after.

Hey guys, I see a lot of comments and concerns about this meet. But mostly....actually, it's all from people who did not attend the first of the year meet (foty). For those who didn't attend, just click on the link that is on the first post of this thread, all the info from the last meet is there. You will get a sense of what happened at FotY and most likely can expect at MotY. Of course it will be different in terms of location, weather, but the events planned will also be changed as well to keep things new.

I see that there is a lot concern on whether or not people from NorCal are capable of planning a SoCal meet and if it would make sense for people in SoCal to handle a SoCal event. MaskedMan answered it best by saying that this is not a SoCal event but a entire California event that just happened to be in the SoCal area. But I don't want to bore you with too much needless info, so here's the main reasons why this meet is already being worked on and planned by myself and Derrick (with the help and input from others).

1.) MotY is NOT like any of your other typical parking lot meets. Again, please refer to the FotY aftermath thread to see for yourself. So please stop thinking that it will just be meet/greet/pics/food/go home. It most likely will NOT be held in a parking lot at a mall or shopping center but an actual public location for hosting events. The ideal location will be where there is little to no traffic, ample parking spaces, a BBQ pit or grill, wide open spaces for the planned events, and a nice scenic backdrop for pictures. Ha! Try finding a place like this in LA! laugh.gif So consideration for the location(s) is being carefully weighed for all of the above reasons before being selected.

2.) MotY will be based on a time schedule in order to promote timeliness and organization. FotY was suppose to be only a 4 1/2 hour event, but ended an hour later than scheduled (thankfully it wasn't that dark). Even then, with the time spaced out the way it did, we weren't able to go on a cruise or take decent daylight pictures. I take partial blame for this, so for MotY I will be personally responsible for major required items so that the day's schedule can continue as planned. Also, a schedule of events allows others to plan their day completely. Thankfully, summer will give us more daylight biggrin.gif to use so I'm sure MotY will run smoother (and probably later) than FotY.

3.) MotY is also a family-friendly event. I've been to far too many meets where one member would bring a guest along (a girlfriend or buddy) and basically either abandons them there, or spends the whole time with just that one person. Not to bemoan the topic, but to show up at a car event and not engage others or participate as a group kind of defeats the purpose of coming to a car meet. This is why there are planned events where everyone, regardless of whether they own a Celica or not (or are even old enough to drive) can participate and not feel like just a lonely spectator. Sure it might sound cheesy and some of the more "cool" members will balk at the idea of joining in, but I'm sure returning FotY attendees will tesitfy on the..."rewards" of partcipation.

4.) Finally, MotY (like FotY) will be the product of hard work, lots of planning, and realistically (and unfortunately) a lot of MONEY. And not just for those planning this event, but for everyone who has to drive +400 miles (one way!) to show up for a few hours then drive back that same day...there's a lot at stake here. You're talking about $80 on gas (both way), $40 for a hotel and another $25 for food. So to make things easier (and less painless) the cost of things like T-shirts, essential supplies/food, awards will be covered by the event hosts. We don't ask for reimbursements, collect fees, or take donations (although volunteering for the BBQ was how we did FotY). Attendees are just asked to show up and enjoy the days events. And honestly, what more could you ask for?

So I hope this answers many of your questions on how and why MotY is being handled by only a few people. We don't want too many cooks in the kitchen or too many backseat drivers. Just keep checking the 1st post on this thread for continuing updates. Again, MaskedMan and myself are open to ideas and suggestions and will most definitely be asking for extra hands to help out at the meet itself. But rest assured that you are in capable hands smile.gif

Long time no see and talk everyone! Well sounds like a good meet, count me in! I havent been to a 6gc meet for the longest time now and I would love to meet new members since the old crew had to move and or change to a new car.... anyways we can always have our first usual meeting lunch spot at the buffet place near my house since there is ALOT of good free parking spaces. and then wherever after that..... well whatever works for CAMAricer and MaskedMan!
