Also, sad to see that leave his hands. I wonder why he'd sell it after all that work... It's not leaving Coomer's hands, it has already had three (maybe four) different owners since him. In that case, someone needs to save it before some 16-year old gets his hands on it and goes "LET'S STREET RACE IT" and destroys it. If it were local, I would sell mine in a heartbeat. -------------------- |

I've emailed him to see if he wants to trade. I love my MR2, but I would trade it in a heartbeat to get that car back. If not I have some money, so I might just pick it up this weekend and never ever let it go again.
Needs a respray on the front end, but I have a friend that can get it done for me. Fingers crossed. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

How does it get away with running filterless for so long? is there socks that you normally slip over the v-stacks?

There are pod filters that can be slipped on, but they hinder high RPM HP. I was trying to source a set of Jubiride mesh filters which are sandwiched between the stack and the ITB which prevents particles from falling in, but those stacks actually push air out between shifts - not to mention flames shooting up them (true story). I have found fried bugs along the ridge on the firewall that had been toasted by the backfire that used to come up the stack.

Why not keep the MR2 and trade your current Celica for it + cash? That way you don't have two 6GCs. How do I post a question. Looking for both sunvisors for 95 convertable. Click on this and post that you'll be there on February 20th. Thanks. QUOTE Haha a bug toaster nice How does backfire get past a closed throttle though? My guess is that the valves weren't seating fully and letting exhaust gasses (and unburnt fuel) back up into the intake. It only happened at really high RPMs (8,000+), and it ran really rich. Supposedly this guy (I think this guy. Whenever it was for sale last) had the motor rebuilt with new piston rings and replaced the valves. He also stated he put Skunk2 cams in it- despite the fact that no one makes 20V cams except for TRD, Toda, and HKS. He also said he put the stock intake back on for a while, which boggled my brain because the stock airbox along with the stock stacks are in my garage. No reply from him yet. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I traded my '96 25th anniversary for the MR2. Aha...I thought you posted current pics a while back in the 6GC pic thread, but I guess not. The Yelli Celli is one of my top favorite Celicas, just because of the engine bay...but I'm not entirely sure I'd give up an MR2 and RWD for it. Go for it though, it might as well go to someone that'll take care of it. What was your reasoning for letting go of it the first time? -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I was moving out of my parent's place and I had the WRX. Bills were massing and I made the unfortunate decision to sell. There really wasn't much else I could have done, so I never really let go of the car. It upsets me to see it tossed on CL all of the time. Before I bought my '96 I waited for weeks for it to pop back up, and it didn't.

Was the Mr2 the same value as the ST 25th anni ? Don't know how well the mr2 holds its value over in the States but here, If you swap a 96 non turbo sports car for a 91 non turbo sports car you'd expect a bit of cash. Both cars being in average condition for their age I'd say nzd$3000 for the mr2 and 4400 for the celica?

96 celica ST with 220K miles vs. A 91 MR2 non turbo with 100K miles. The MR2 has a better value.
I got a reply from the guy and I might be going to get it this weekend. We'll see how it goes. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Make it happen, I know you can. It'll be great to see it back in your hands again, I truly believe you're the best person for this car (no offense to the other guys on here, but really, this is just meant to be. He let it slip through his hands once, a second chance only means it's GOT to be meant to be)
This car has a special place in my heart - it's cheesy, I know. SUPER cheese. Before I got my Celica, I'd ALWAYS wanted a 6th gen Celica, since they were new and like 30k. When I finally decided it was time to sell my 4Runner, I scoured craigslist and Auto Trader looking for a Celica to replace it with. In the process of doing that, I found this site. Once I saw the Yelli Celi, when Coomer still had it, I literally DREAMED about this car frequently. I knew whatever I got wouldn't come close to it, but the Yelli Celi was truly an inspiring factor for me, and motivated me to keep searching for a 6th gen until I could find one (that I could afford!) rather than just settle for an Integra or something like that. Long story short, as a graphic designer, I get to create all day... but my actual creative outlet is my Celica, and I owe a large part of that initial inspiration to the Yelli Celi. Thank GOD I've got a good aptitude for this stuff, otherwise I'd wind up having to cut my ear off or something Anyway, sorry, I know that's all kind of off-topic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending good vibes your way, I really hope this works out for you. I just think it's meant to be! Let's have a tiny mini meet if you get it, I don't care what condition it's in. We're long overdue for some kind of meet anyway. I'll even come up to WA if you're willing to meet up someplace closer to Oregon than Canada This post has been edited by GriffGirl: Feb 4, 2010 - 1:32 AM -------------------- |

He said someone is looking at it today, and if he doesn't buy it then I'm next in line. I told him straight up don't sell it to the other guy, we'll see if its available after today.
And if this goes over well, anyone want to do a mini meet? Somewhere in the Vancouver, WA area on Saturday? -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money
