Some members are requesting a Celica of the Month thread in lieu of the Featured Ride being changed to a quarterly instead of monthly honor. So, anyone who would like to can post their Celica's info, along with some pictures. A poll will eventually be created for members to select their favorite submission. So, having established that, let's start the submissions for March Celica of the Month!
Everyone is free to post below. What we want to see is the inspiration behind the car, let us know how it came to be the way it is now. Where it's been, and where it's going is just as important as where it is now. A poll of all submissions will be created from those posts. Entrants can vote for themselves, but NO ONE should be going in and making new accounts to add votes. If this is found to happen the moderators will disqualify ALL votes made by that person. Good luck, and go! I'm sure this will be reviewed and changed as we gain input, but some members are requesting a Celica of the Month thread in lieu of the Featured Ride being changed to a quarterly instead of monthly honor. So, I propose that anyone who would like to can post their Celica's info, along with some pictures. A poll will eventually be created for members to select their favorite submission. So, having established that, let's start the submissions for March Celica of the Month! Go. just FYI, the featured ride was never a monthly thing, everyone whos been featured ride in the past was up for several months at a minimum. i would just like to start doing it on a regular, consistant basis instead of what we've had the past few years. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I think the idea of the thread was for the entrants to post a bit of background on the car, modifications, etc. (Do NOT post "mods in profile"). What we want to see is the inspiration behind the car, let us know how it came to be the way it is now. Where its been, and where its going is just as important as where it is now.
To avoid clutter, do not post unless you are entering your car. It will make it easier for people to run down the applicants to choose their favorite. Perhaps a 5 car limit in the final round per month? If more than 5 entries are made, a preliminary vote will be made to bring it down to the "top 5", and a final poll will then be made. Entrants can vote for themselves, but NO ONE should be going in and making new accounts to add votes. If this is found to happen the moderators will disqualify ALL votes made by that person (maybe even put you in a cheater's time-out for not obeying rules.) Once there is a winner all other posts will be deleted from the thread, leaving the winner's original submission. The thread will be locked, and when a new thread is made a simple link will be placed so that viewers can look back through previous CotM threads. Does everyone think those are fine rules? Manny? Luke? This post has been edited by 95CelicaST: Feb 8, 2010 - 6:57 PM -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I support those rules. Seems fair to me.
I've got absolutely no chance of winning, but this is the last month I'll actually have the Celica, so I might as well just put it out there. I picked my first Celica up when I was 16 and had it 5 months to the day before a deer totaled it out. It took me 2 months and a 3 hour one way drive to pick up my '98 GT. It was a one owner lease car, and the previous owner had no mechanical skill, so I've spent the last 3 years as a poor student, struggling to find a balance between fixing the previous owner's mistakes and not spending all of my money on the car. I used to hate the car because of how much I had to fix it and how much I had to spend on maintenance, but now I love it for the same reason. My plan for the car was to keep it clean and swap a 3rd gen 3S-GTE into it, then drive the car until it absolutely could not be driven anymore. Despite no chance of winning, here's the picture. Who says it needs to be a super modded Celica to win? How about a Celica in near factory condition? How about a Celica that was totalled by a deer and was rebuilt to OEM spec? What about a clean Celica with wheels and springs? Its about the background of the car, not just a pretty picture.
Go be a Debbie Downer in some other thread, please. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

95CelicaST, I agree with those rules. However the idea was for just one thread to exist, hence this isn't named "March Celica of the Month." And to the entrants above, the idea is to post a picture of your choosing and then some things that make the car special to you or otherwise unique; so please edit your posts to reflect that.

since we discussing rules (etc) here as well let me share with my opinion
first of all: Idea is perfect! second: rules are nice thing... but... Why "copy + paste" what I already have in my profile? Why post pictures I already have in my profile? Why re-post something I already wrote? Since this is not "best picture competition" who cares how good or bad pictures I have in my profile? Or is this about amount of mods I have on my car? So longer list the better? I do not think so... The point is... Let's ask yourself question first: What is purpose of this "feature"? (just describe it) ...than ask again: what makes winner "the winner"? What is "the scale"? (for 1/4 mile sprint is time... sure thing. but what it would be for this?) Hope you get what I mean. -------------------- No more replicas... This is evolution... This is SS-four :)

i think you misunderstood malpaso.
he meant NOT to just put "look in my profile for pics or info about the car" the basic rules are good IMO, although i dont really think we need to post a complete mod list and whatnot. i think creating a new thread each month is the best way to do it, and once everyone posts theyre pics the OP will edit the first post with the poll. once the votes are in, i will lock the thread, and post the results in the official sticky for COTM that i will create. once chris gives me the ability to do so, i think i will give the winner each month one extra picture in theyre profile or somthing. i think we need to limit the entries to 1 or 2 a month per person, tops. to those that think there isnt enough cars, i disagree. its up to all of YOU to post your cars, and to let others know about the COTM thread. i think you guys are taking this a bit to seriously. this isnt "featured ride" where the car has to be perfect in every way, its just a way to get people involved, like a better version of the post a pic of your car thread. IMO it isnt about who has the most mods, or longest build list. for me, i just wanna see clean celicas. modded, stock, it dont matter. clean is clean. IMO its as much about the picture itself as it is about the celica thats in it. pics of a 100% stock celica with a nice background looks great IMO and is just as worthy as malpaso for instance, or anyone else on the site. as far as voting, if i catch anyone making diffrent names to vote, they get the banhammer, period. a shame you guys are posting, but not any entries from any of you, when most of you have cars that COULD be "Celica Of The Month" -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Visual Representation: 1997 Toyota Celica GT
-Name: Malek Awad -Name of the Car: Spyro -Background: Born in 1997, Spyro has been owned and maintained by a little old Japanese lady. That is, until 21 January 2009 when I bought it from the used car lot where she traded it. It was 100% stock when I bought it. -Now: After a little over a year of owning it (being my first major expense), I tallied quite a few on the modifications list for being a relatively short time. My vision for Spyro at the beginning was simple. I wanted it to be clean and sleek, not in your face and look at me, but I also wanted it to be a car people remembered at a car show. It is well on its way to being that car. I'm constantly asked what kind of car it is or where I got it. It's even getting attention from BMW and Mercedes owners. Some know it just by Spyro. -Modifications: Some basic modifications are the splitters and GT4 spoiler. I repainted the whole car getting rid of the side wall gash on the rear quarter and the minor dents. Interior wise, I got a Pioneer Premiere head unit with Boston Acoustic speakers. Great condition stock leather seats with seat heaters and OEM switches. A blue LED heater unit and gauge cluster. 7th gen short shifter and soon a TRD shift knob. -Future: Future plans for Spyro include JDM Projectors, an ST205 3s-gte swap, 16x7in 5 spoke gunmetal rims and JDM tail lights. I want people to stand there at car shows guessing I've had many personal experiences with Spyro that makes it more than just a car for me. Never will I consider leaving it. Thanks for reading. -------------------- |

dang my plan failed! plan was to be the only picture poster giving me no competition
I like your style Malek, so I'm going to follow with my celica story Born 1996 in a Japanese toyota plant (so JDM) and it's a SS-II manual. The first japanese owner had done about 60,000km's (so about 37,000miles) and I bought in July 2007, pretty much factory apart from a hks intake and a few extras, shorty later my first modifcation were trd leads and sparkplugs. I began some intensive research, as the plan was to keep it clean, sleek , elegant and simple, my impression of what celica stands for. my first idea was the tom's lip, though I like the design of the SS-III kit better, so I went ahead with that, I also grabed some great trd goodies and projectors etc to complement the look, recently I've installed tein suspension and facelift gt4 rims.... anyway if you wish to read more about my progress you can by clicking my signature (My SS-II CELICA) anyway pic This post has been edited by Rusty: Feb 23, 2010 - 2:41 AM -------------------- |

You have a beautiful celica rusty! The SS-III kit looks soo sleek. The mix between the rims and the projectors really set it off..
