Monoblock amplifiers are 1 channel amps; should only be used for subwoofers (meaning your bass alone). 2 channels amps you can use for your bass as well, but you can also use the 2 channel amps for mids & heights. You can't use the 2 channel amps for bass and mids & heights at the same time, but the amp is capable of doing both. For future reference as well, if you want to run an amp for you car speakers (mids & heights), you should run a 4-channel amp. This amp consists of 4 outputs, for 4 speakers making it a lot easier to run amp outputs to four speakers without bridging speakers and pushing lower ohms. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You've been ripped off already. that's the MADLIB for being riped off. sorry man...

yes i said it damn it.

THE MADLIB FOR BEING RIPPED OFF!!

okay let's break down your OP though...

audio display = subwoofer, speaker, or tweater (if you'd actualy need that kinda power for a tweet. lol)

mono = one audio display.
2ch = 2 audio display
4ch = 4 audio display
6ch = 6 audio display

then after that you get into Component setups; that are comprised of sub/speker/tweet combo's.

so... assuming we're wiring up subwoofers (bass)

note1
MONO amp; you want one big woofer (15+ at 1200)
2ch @ 1000w (watts) = more than good for 2x12's. (the one you just traded in)

so if you're looking for 1600w then i'd say you'd be good for two single coil 15's really.

really it depends on your goals. but typicaly you want to give your audio display's just enough push to make them sound. anymore is just distortion and sounds like crap.

any other questions?

edit: note1
now i'm assuming that you're pushing some high end brand names on those assumptions too... see different brands makes and models can handle different amounts. Plus i'm giving close to or over maximum values. you never wanna max out what an audio display can handle. it's like baking a chicken; you wanna get it just right wink.gif

yes. Properly tuning your audio system is just like baking a chicken. just without the baking... or the chicken... thumbsup.gif

D-Man said it best. You paid for a 1,600 watt amp and got a 1,200 watt amp. Unless the 1,200 watt amp is a better brand, the guy ripped you off. There is definitely a science to tuning your sound system. Best of luck with everything.

well im a noob to all this. all i kno is that i have 2x12 hifonic subs which are putting 600watts max on each. the guy that sold me the amp says the mono block is supposedly better than the 2 ch..i've also read online that mono block is better but the disadvantage is that it costs more. anyone help me out in simpler explanations?

mono's are made just for bass, depending on your rms output, and as well of thue sub....what kinds of speakers do you have?

depends on the brand...but a monoblock amp is perfect for subs. tell me your sub specs and we can tell if it was worth it anyways also the price. I got a 1250 watt power acoustik for like a lil over 100 bucks.

I've got a question for you guys:

Running Pioneer Premiers all around (check the profile for exacts) plus a Pioneer Premier U510 Headunit with out puts for F, R, Sub and I want to add a Subwoofer to the package at some point. If I decide to run a single shallow mount Premier Sub (either this 10" or this 12") what amp would you recommend?

The RMS of the speakers combined is 540W if it means anything.

I'm a JL Audio guy, so I would tell you to go with the JL Audio 500/1 monoblock. But JL AUDIO is kind of pricey (you get what you pay for). Since you're running everything Pioneer, why not look into different models of Pioneer monoblock amps and see which amp could push your reccommended RMS wattage without blowing your sub AND without over working your amp.

RMS wattage is what you want to follow basically 1 for 1 but slightly under is not bad, closer you get it the better.
