i tried too find Lexus glacier frost mica and they had one of the pallets on Toyota and Lexus and the code of it was the 074 like the factory code but they named it just like blueish pearl???
is it still the same color and everything?? -------------------- |

If it's the same code it should be the same color, I believe. But make sure it's the TOYOTA code and not like Honda 074 or whatever.

i tried too find Lexus glacier frost mica and they had one of the pallets on Toyota and Lexus and the code of it was the 074 like the factory code but they named it just like blueish pearl??? is it still the same color and everything?? yup, its the same. the name is diffrent depending on which car it comes off of. the 05 GS 300 and 430 both call it bluish pearl, the rest call it glacier frost mica. however. it is a tri-stage paint, meaning, you spray a base color, then a mid coat over that before you clear it. from my experience, a single stage mix will not look nearly as clear or have as much depth as a true base/clear (or in this case base/midcoat/clear subaru also used the same code in 91 for theyre "extra black" and fiat also used it in a couple of years. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

yea i have a big one right here in Albany they said 288 for everything 4 quarts clear coat and everything do you know what brand of paint? and if its a basecoat/ clearcoat paint or a single stage paint? 288 sounds awefully cheap for everything, in sherwin williams ultra 7000 basecoat paint your talking around 70$ a qt for the basecoat, ~175 a qt. for the midcoat (that contains all the pearls in that color) and a couple hundred for a quality clear setup at least. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

We got paint from CarQuest 3 yrs ago for another car. DuPont brand IIRC. They were VERY helpful!!
Primer, catalyst, hardener, thinner, base color, clear, prep wipes, 4 respirator inserts, fish eye remover, glaze putty, small can of Bondo, & a few things I don't recall-- $1,200. IIRC-- that was a gallon of paint, & the counter guy followed some kind of formula for 3 coats of clear along with how much primer, catalyst, fish eye remover,etc. It is a blue with metalic // pearlessence--kinda like Electric Blue. We got 3 coats of color & had about 1/4 quart left over. This was on an "80s mid size Domestic. IDK how much you would use, but that's what our 1st project used. Maybe also think about how much clear you * may * lose if you wet-sand // buff for final appearance. |
