New to this one, where am I?

Hello all...

Celica number 5………… and I think the best yet.

Went up to Telford last night to pick up the Celica, What a drive with a guy that only just past his test and sat at 70 all the way, plus having to drop my lady off before hand, we set off 1hr 20mins late….. Got there around 21.30, had a brew, and a look over, looked super, a bit of paint missing from the front, a ton of service history, and a near fully stamped book. Wheels need a tidy, 2 original keys, cam belt done 14k ago….. And 64k on the clock!!!

Anyway, returned and got back at 12.15 last night having him follow me all the way back, yawn, at work for 06.00… so not making much sense at this point.

Here she is anyway.

NICE! That bit of paint is not a huge issue. You do, however, have headlight washers and Euro splitters, which aren't that common. Nice pick up. Now I'm going to guess that this is an SS-II?

Wow, great price! And lucky for you guys that you don't have to get the crappy 5S and 7A motors. I would kill for a 3rd gen 3SGE for the MR2.

Very bizarre Celica you have there. You've got GT-Four WRC goodies on a Euro spec GT.

Are you sure the motor is 2.2L ? Because Euro spec GT comes with a similar 2.0 engine that JDM has.

5S-FE is the 2.2L 140HP engine
3S-GE is the 2.0L 177HP engine (slightly less with Euro emissions)

But yeah, I noticed you have a hood spoiler which is for GT-Four WRC to prevent bonnet flex at high speeds.

Those front air deflectors are also common for GT-Four WRC as is the headlight spray jets.

And no you guys, it's not an SS-II or III there are too many telltail signs that this Celica did NOT come from Japan.

he said it was a 2.0l further up he was commenting that the American market got the old 2.2l engines for some reason only Toyota can tell you why, all that spec you listed was standard on the later UK spec GT 6GC

Standard???????? Wow.

Yeah, Toyota can't compete in the American high-performance market, the cost would be too high. Not to mention nomatter how much top end power u get out of a high revving 2.0L, you can't compete bang for buck against a 3L or 4L or 5L or 6L American tank.

Top spec JDM Celicas were quite expensive in their time. It's just because their laws force them to upgrade to protect their industry that the once expensive high-tech high-performance cars they pump out turn into dirt cheap used imports for the rest of the world.

I heard that your GAS / Petrol / Fuel is quite a low RON is this true? and that the jap engines would not work well on this?

Do you get the 99RON over there?
