Was hoping there was someone out there with advice on running a water injection setup without adding methanol. Ive done seom searching around and only produced mixed answers. From what i can tell the only real drawbacks that i have read so far, are cylinder walls wearing out FASTER than normal due to some property of just running water, and maybe it would weaken the fuel/air mixture coming into the engine already.
Anywho, i cant get methanol here in japan, due to it being a controlled substance. It was recommened to use HEET, but i cant find it out where im at, and also i know the risk of using the 50/49/1 washer fluid...basically i dont want the injector nozzle to get clogged by soap when i really need... So anybody that can give any insight to just plain jane water? -------------------- (\__/)

So anybody that can give any insight to just plain jane water? You can use normal water. Thats where the term water injection comes from, however its probably good to use distilled water to help cut down on potential rusting in your exhaust system after use. Your cylinder walls will not wear down or anything like that. Washer fluid works fine too. I have been running washer fluid for years. Nothing ever got clogged. However you have to ask yourself what is is that you want to do with your setup. If you just want some added protection to your basic near stock setup, then water is just fine. If you want to push the boost above what you can safely do on pump gas, then you will need at least washer fluid. Methanol is best because it allows you to run the most boost and see the biggest gains from installing an injection kit. If methanol is not available, you can use denatured alcohol thats sold at most hardware stores. It provides similar gains to methanol. Running 100% water is fine, and will yield good results...but normally you dont want to run straight water, as it will freeze in the lines and the tank at anything below 32*

Well its good to get an opinion on someone who has been using washer fluid for as long as you had. Also, my basic plan is more or less protection as i am running the stock top mount and plan on to well into the future, but i have upped the boost so thats anther reason...Anywho, thanks! Running 100% water is fine, and will yield good results...but normally you dont want to run straight water, as it will freeze in the lines and the tank at anything below 32* I dont think ill have to water about the lines freezing as im in a subtropical enviroment ^_^ But still thank you! -------------------- (\__/)
