Helo guys im new to this site, im from the philippines and just got a 3sge 3rd gen for my st 171, was planing of upgrading the engine while its still out of the car, was thingking of puting itbs from a black top 4age and changing the values and springs from a beams which are allitle bit bigger or from a gte im still sourcing for the specs of other ge or gte and if they can be swap with minor machining, then go adjustable cam gears and cams with better lift, its kinda hard and expensive to look for 3sge parts here so im looking at the options from other gen that can be an upgrade for the 3rd gen, any sudgestions will be most appriciated. Thanks

-re-griding is safe , I did it on my beams too already 10000km on this set
-stock rev3 valves , -compression test showing 232PSI -megaquirt2 - no problems at all -Trq from 4500rpm up more than 200Nm only on cams and head-work (with stock intake and exhaust) 200hp+ -will put fresh dyno results soon with hks exhaust-header and ITB Project is ongoing ,3 engines are already running on different specification: 1. upgraded head and cams (stock exhaust + intake ) only piggyback for fuel correction and stock ecu (at 7500rpm 197hp, 208Nm@5000rpm ) 2. upgraded head and cams + megaquirt2 + custom intake (will make fresh dyno this weekend ) 3. upgraded head and cams + megaquirt2 + hks exhaust header + custom ITB 4x45mm (ITB in progress after that will make dyno ) This post has been edited by pasqual: Mar 9, 2010 - 1:06 AM -------------------- BEAMS swaped .......

dont think so on the cams since the gen 3 has the dizzy and 4th has CAS.
for valves and springs imo its better off going aftermarket, since they are stronger and allow more lift without become coilbound (gen 3 is limited to 10.5mm lift, 4th idk) -------------------- |

thanks guys, so stock springs are ok, just dont beyond 11.3 lift, i will try to find a good machine shop that can do the regrinds, thingking just 272deg with 10.5mm lift, how about cam gears, is it useless to use bigger values
i looking if i can mill the TB will not go itbs for now, what is a good piggyback system that a can use? my 3sge cam from a JDM automatic, is it true that the intake cam of an 3sge 3rd gen auto is 240deg 8.7mm lift than the manual 252deg with a 9.8 or like what you said 10.115mm, havent opened it yet, i got the engine with out tranny |

( I did it .... ) BUT I can sell You only cams 500USD set , IN 278deg 11.2mm , EX 276 10.5mm + shims -but shims must be grid to correct valve-lash for new cams on your-head -I recommend lower-head for change CR from 10.5 to 11.8 For 1000USD You can get , set including head work done (CR , valves-lash , valves-set ) You need only put it on block ... -------------------- BEAMS swaped .......
