Hi
I recently found this forum, and have the impression of a great & helpfull community. I have had my Celica for 2 years now, I have just ordered Raiser blocks and JDM tail lights from Vincent_Doggy (as far as i recall). When i had to fill out my Car details. There was all kinds of types. I choose the GT for now, I will specify my Celica here and see which one it is. 1994 Celica GT 3SGE 175 hp / 190 Nm Engine Super strut suspension. I bought it used. It had the OEM sideskirts. and also something on the front, i am not entirely sure about what they are for, But i was planning on painting them. Pic: http://vaks2.shackspace.com/What%20are%20these%20exactly.dib As said. Im planning on painting them silver. -------------------- 3SGE Driver :-)

I'm going to say SS-II or SS-III, although I believe that the SS-II might never have gotten the Superstrut suspension. And those things at the front are Euro splitters, they're pretty sought-after.
Check the firewall though, the code is stamped there. Should be ST202 or ST204. This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Mar 30, 2010 - 5:31 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

looks like an SS-II to me, i don't think the SS-III was added to the range till 1995,
those little splitters are standard equipment on the UK facelift cars and are common as muck, you can get a pair for as little as £10 Sterling including P+P, i've got a set sat in my garage gathering dust from when i did the TRD front, are they really that sought after state side? yeah paint them silver, i painted my black to match the car they look much better colour coded This post has been edited by Tom_SS2: Mar 30, 2010 - 5:42 PM -------------------- |

Looks like a SS-II with extra mods like the GT-4 front lower half lip. Plus you have the WRC hood/bonnet spoiler on a preface lift hood as well. I highly doubt you have a SS-III seeing that it's a 94. I don't know about the Super Strut probably was an option.

Im not 100% sure, But i drove in to the store and he looked inside at the wheels to check which type it was, And i was told it was the super strut. And the prices raised ALOT because of that lol Its a German import, I dont know exactly what it was sold with, I think its from late 1994, From what i recall, Its November or december. Any chance it might've gotten anything added because of that?. I havent managed to find anyone with the front splitters on mine on different pictures. So im not sure its common as muck, I think it might've been an accesory, But im not sure, I just dont know if its supposed to be painted or not, I dont really see why they would make any difference being so black and unoticable. I wish there was someone who had a picture of these painted on their car. I'll put it as a SS-II. But are there any easy way to see or spot if its Super strut or not?. in the UK they are really common and standard on the facelift, a lot of these folk on this webby are American so they didn't have the same options as the Euro and JDM markets
the SS-II had an optional superstrut suspension pack, check your VIN plate if it says "MODEL E-ST202-BLMVF" then its an SS-II, BLMZF on the end is an SS-III here's mine with the same splitters painted Astral black to match the car This post has been edited by Tom_SS2: Mar 30, 2010 - 7:19 PM -------------------- |

But where exactly does this VIN plate sits? If its a SS III. The super strut is standard?. If SS II its optional?. Just to have that clarified -------------------- 3SGE Driver :-)

This one is interesting, if this is the 1994 SS-II with Superstrut Suspension as I think it is, it will be neither E-ST202-BLMVF nor BLMZF.
The SS-II with Superstrut is basically an SS-III before the SS-III was released. If you could take a photo of that VIN plate, it would be good to have the details for reference. You'll also have LSD with this car too -------------------- Mike W

wasn't there a massive thread recently discussing the LSD's and that there is distinct differences between the 2's and 3's and that even though a 2 could have sss it still had the same box code as one without and they just had a basic diff where as the 3 had a different box code including a special diff (exact type still not clarified)

That is from what i understand. I think super strut was optional, Its a german import, and it has the G Higher grade (general), package, it has AC / leather seat wheel gear knop / OEM side skirts / WRC hood spoiler and brake disc front / rear (is this on the little version)? The question is if Super strut was a part of this package. I can't look behind my wheels. So i can't see it really. But i dident try and turn the wheel all i could to one of the sides, I guess i can see it if i do that. I hope im experienced enough too regonize which one it is lol -------------------- 3SGE Driver :-)

there are only 2 types of factory suspension on the ole' Celi, superstrut suspension (SSS) or McPherson (unless you are counting sumat like a complete set of TRD coilies as a third set),
its the bit at the bottom of the strut which is the difference between the 2 types, the regular McPherson has a 1 normal wish bone where as the SSS has control arms that change the camber of the wheel during cornering, the one in the pic is SSS, the shockers and springs despite being different parts work the same way, the SSS is only on the front suspension -------------------- |
