Found a great deal on a 1990 nissan 300zx, t-tops, 2+2, non turbo, mint. 74000 miles on it.
Just wondering if anyone knows what the common problems with this car are? What to look out for, etc? price is not the issue so don't worry about that. Thanks in advance.......... This post has been edited by samir0189: Apr 11, 2010 - 8:38 PM -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

You must not have many friends.. to constantly be an A$$ hole just shows either you don't get enough sex or you just don't have friends. Of course he could have goggled, but he just wanted to know if there were people on this site that owned a 300zx. -------------------- THIS IS WHERE WE HOLD THEM!

I trust my 6gc peeps will tell me what they know of if they- know someone who has one, or been around them, or own one personally. When people ask me about a car I know about i don't hesitate to tell them if its a good deal or bad deal or what goes wrong when, etc..... kinda hoping other people might help me out in this situation. google-ing is great but its still better to get opinions from people you know.... whose words you trust. IMO....... -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

He didn't want to know if anyone on here owned a 300ZX. If you read his post you would have noticed he wanted to know if anyone knows common problems with them. I simply directed him to his answer. In addition, I have plenty of friends and get plenty of sex, thank you. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

^ Still doesn't give you a reason to be an asshat. Don't get me wrong, I'm an asshat (Samir can attest to that ), but I don't make occasional posts like one.
Anyway, a guy I knew in high school had one. It was auto, and he rarely had a problem with it. It was non-turbo as well. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Out of my Year and change I've been here.. all you do is try to flame/bash people and you get warned about it by Mods.. and you still do it. You seriously need to grow up.. or get a girlfriend. which ever comes first. BTW, the OP made it clear with is other post he hoped some people her knew friends that owned one... or had one. It's a 20yr old car, ANYTHING or EVERYTHING could be wrong with it. rotten hoses, rotten belts, rotten tires, rust, mice, rats, rotten wiring, failing electronics, worn or seized suspension, bad brakes, rotten vacuum lines, rotten brake lines, rotten rubber parts, rotten bushings, leaky door seals, etc etc etc etc.

I know its 20 years old, and anything and everything can go wrong... and I'm not so much worried about the general maintenance as am I the specific problems it may have. I already registered for some nissan forums *(what i would consider helping myself cough cough cough)* and have a good idea as to what goes wrong but i was still kinda hoping anyone on here might have some insight im missing from general browsing. Thank you once again bitter. how about this for everyone else: if you dont have any REAL help, stay out of my thread. -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

Why don't you ask Blakout16 if I ever help people, like when I drove across the state to install his turbo kit, or how I offered up my AAA membership to a member who needed his car towed to a shop that was 40+ miles away, or how about the thousands of threads I have posted info in to answer legitimate questions of members with real problems? Out of my 5+ years here I have helped more people than you will ever help. Like I said, I help those who help themselves. And I have been with my beautiful girlfriend for 7 years, so I guess I achieved your suggestion a LONG time ago. But I appreciate your concern about my personal life. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I've worked on exactly 2 of those from that vintage and they just seemed to have any of the normal problems a car thats 20yrs old would have, which was any of what I had listed above. one was a beaten to hell daily driver than was owned by a 65yr old black woman on welfare and was about as safe as golfing in a thunderstorm ontop of a hill. the other was a well taken care of black one that was nearly mint inside and really nice outside as well. both had all of the rubber parts rotten, every bushing, line, hose, caliper hoses, etc all rubber was rotten. it just goes with age no matter what you do, it dries up.
the nice one needed a fuel pump and then plugs and then had stuck injectors and then the wiring to the injectors...ugh. the insulation on the wires was soo brittle and heat cooked that it all cracked off the wires when I unplugged an injector. the nasty one...was rusted out, front brakes barely worked due to seized calipers/slides, the rear brakes barely worked for the same reason, 2 struts were frozen, ball joints and tierods were about to fall apart, rear diff leaked very badly, every rubber was rotten. -------------------- |

Ill have a better look at all the rubbers later today hopefully they are in decent condition... i hadn't read anything about that on the Z forums, but that's exactly the kind of info i was looking for. Thank you. Either way its normal for rubbers to dry up, its happening on my 6gc as it is. Im gonna look at it later today and maybe post some pictures here. -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

i bet you will be looking at the rubbers, fruity boy
yea, thats not the kind of problem specific to make/model but just age. hell 20yr old bicycle tires will be dry rotted just the same as 20yr old control arm bushings. problem is, ones alot easier to see than the other. if you're going to be seriously driving the car replace all the suspension bushings, vacuum lines, coolant hoses, door seals, etc. sucks to come out to your car after a sudden down pour only to find the hatch full of water because of a rotten seal or clogged drain tube. things like that are the things that get over looked and will make you hate buying an old car. -------------------- |

haha put your reading glasses on old man
Found a great deal on a 1990 nissan 300zx, t-tops, 2+2, non turbo, mint. 74000 miles on it. I have been around 2 of these, one of my friends has a TT,and ive been up close and personal. They are not the easiest car to work on,we did his timing belt(mind you we are teenagers) and it took us about 10 hours from start to start. Also my GFs best friend has/had one(rolled it into a ditch),it was a NA auto but still really quick. They are quick cars, but really heavy and hard to work on. You must not have many friends.. to constantly be an A$$ hole just shows either you don't get enough sex or you just don't have friends. Of course he could have goggled, but he just wanted to know if there were people on this site that owned a 300zx. I bet that sounded REALLY funny in your head... That was actually pretty funny in his post to... This post has been edited by CelicaST_CALI: Apr 11, 2010 - 3:47 PM -------------------- BANNED. for life, you moron.

WTH does that have to do with anything? ah well. bro, bitter is right, rubber components should be carefully inspected especially those concerning safety equip (brakes etc) a friend of mine and his brother bought a couple of these about 3 years ago, and had some rust issues (due to lack of care) and said that both had suspension issues, they were from the same owner so i would guess the suspension issue is because the previoius owner was didding around with it. and a friend of mine suggested cleaning out the entire fuel system, he said it leads to bad injectors as eluded to earlier. -------------------- |
