wow that looks sick, did you follow any sort of how to or anything like that to do it? I'd love to do something like this but don't know how haha/ No I didnt follow any sort of plan and to be honest it is how i envisgaed it when i started it. I think this is version 4. yeah I would like to do something along these lines. How to? Sorry I didn't take many pictures as I went along. The first of the year for the car is the first weekend in May so I just wanted to get soemthing done. Being simple I did the following: 1. Completely strip the Boot/Trunk of all interiior plastics, flor and carpeting including permanently ditching the spare wheel. (Space saver are a waste of space anyway). 2. Build a false floor. I used 1/2 inch MDF mounted on 2x1 inch PSE wooden rails. 3. Build sub enclosure (sized to suit specific sub chosen) 4. Form edge around the trunk. 5. Make an MDF sheet sized to go over the sub enclosure and between edging. With Cutout for SUB. 6. Trim the the sheet that the SUB is to be installed in and edging up to where the MDF Capping is to be fitted. 7. Make MDF capping this is the hard bit try to get the edges cut to the shape of the boot/trunk opeing and around the suspension top mount/Interior trim. I made one side as a template then drew round it to make the other side. Before you fix this down I prewired the system as it would be hard to wire once everything is fixed together. 8. Trim the rest of the build. For trimming I used Leatherete and fixed it using spray on adhesive. |
