I tried searching on here but didnt find all that much. I was on the gas pretty hard and at about four thousand rpm the gas just cut off completely and the car idled very rough barely running while my car came to a stop. Now when I try to start it seems to cranks good but there’s a weird exhaust type sound I never heard and I can’t get it to start at all. Timing belt also seemed sort of loose but I don’t know if that the problem. I was just seeing if anyone had any idea's on things I could do to figure out what needs replaced or to be done. I’m thinking the fuel pump or timing but I thought timing it would start and just run rough. There’s no response from hitting the gas and I thought I’d also say I recently replaced the vacuum pump so I know it’s not that.

Any help here would be much appreciated because I really don’t want to have to get it towed to the garage.

Is the timing belt loose enough to slip when the pulley turns? If so, this may damage the engine if you try to continue starting the engine. I am no expert but I guess that while you were running at 4000 rpm, something might have loosen up causing your timing belt to loosen too (e.g., tensioner bearing, etc).

It is also possible for the engine not to start if the timing is really way off. That happened to my friend once. But what would cause your timing to change if did not touch it? It would probably point you back to the loose timing belt.

Just my 2 cents and wait for what the experts would say.
