6gc is like the sheltered child of the car community...

Yes they're tow hooks. People mount them to their strut towers because it is a strong mounting point to be towed from.

Are the ones pictured for looks? Of course.
Is the function there? Definitely.

Now go back to your parents' basement 6gc and return to that sheltered life. tongue.gif

Useful Information
Unneeded Information (that is rather offensive)

I'm not going to argue. This post was uncalled for. You answered a thread with the direct facts and that is most definitely the end answer to this thread. Credit due- Given.

Talking sh!t when you answered a post at 1.45pm (while most people that can afford to do/ and know of & about such mods, are busy at the jobs they receive the money to afford said mods) While you were belittling a community that I, (and all but 1 member of it) is Proud to call their own,
I was being distracted by work. If you must know, at 1.45 i was between a Concrete saw to remove slab to jackhammer up, to lay a post to weld a fence to that would be the backbone to an automated entry gate system. Not playing on the computer. Not trying to say i'm the most BAMF here, cause i'm not. But that's called an honest hard days work to achieve/receive the things you want.

Should i have been here i could have answered this question as well. Infact, There are atleast 30 people off the top of my head that could have, if they weren't busy being adults.

END POINT: Do not belittle 6gc.net. Do not attempt to lower it's moral. Because if it wasn't for the people here, Most of us wouldn't have as much as we do have. Nor the friends, Nor the connections. 6gc.net is a fantastic network of everything from new learners to hardcore tuners. We share our Parts, Knowledge, and Pride.

And for you to say that, is a slap in all of our faces. Including Coomer. The yellicelli started this all. Go look at your own profile.

If you feel this way, then please, GTFO

It's called a joke. If I were serious, would I still be around this site despite the fact that I do not own a Celica? No.

And I will respond further in your unnecessary PM.

if its a drift/race car then they go off quite often into the gravel track and once in there due to how low the car is they can't get out under their own power, if its on a street car its a total penis extension nothing more

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

So totally true!

But how many FWD will you see drifting? We have to pitch. kindasad.gif Though granted that OP isn't us. It's Nissan. But w/e

But totaly true, When i was learning the art in that 350 i went out more times than to count. Sh!t, Most of my cars have been out more times than i can count. lol!! Practice makes perfect though~

Hence the tow hook! biggrin.gif (wish i had one back then... frown.gif )

ANOTHER FACT!!

And you have many-no ... MANY! MOST useful facts!! AND always Appreciated. There is no way that i can deny this~ Infact, I DO encurage your knowledge!! Not being a smartass, no disrespect, no scarcasm... I really do support every single fact we can find.

I just hate to hear badmouthing of something that is so beneficial to those involved with it. BENEFICIAL To the point that non mebers can see it.

I have 2 friends (non 6gc owners) that want 6th gens just because of what i accomplish and they see me tag 6gc and receive those hard-fact reply's within minitues (like many of yours!). Or the fact that i have over 40 6gc phone numbers in my cell. Or because of how cheap we make it on each other. Or because of how common our knowledge is between multiple members when placed in the same room. (witch happens often here in Houston) laugh.gif

We have a fantastic comunity. That's the only problem i had with your post. [/argument]

Toyota's are reliable, therefore we have no need for tow hooks.

Wow.

I think thats all I can say... wow.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will "go back to my parents basement and live my sheltered life". I'm sure plenty of other 30 year olds with a wife and kid live in their parents basement...

Its just as natural as a "Tow-Hook" on a FWD car, right? Bwahahahaa...

... and I'm spent.

CLOSE THIS THREAD PLZ MANNY!! biggrin.gif

PS - DMAN, u rock... I throroughly enjoy reading all your posts... lol.

there are a couple reason why tuners add an extra large tow hook.

1) for the tow truck driver to easily see it. (fast in fast out) When the OEM ones they are always black and under the trim of the car.

2) the tow hook extends farther out then your regular tow hook so the tow strap/chain can be pulled from any angle without risk of destroying surrounding trim. If you hook up a tow chain to the OEM celica tow hook in the wrong angle it can damage the bumper (especially the front bumper.)

3) The reason its up on top of the hood is so it can be easily access while in a gravel trap especially so with body contact in motor sports. The chances of it being damage during a crash is lower on the hood. If you had it on the bumper like OEM ones, chance of it being bend out of shape is so much higher during a simple crash.

4) last reason why OEM tow hooks wont do ... watch this video tow hook win!
