I think what my issue is that you are saying its "texas's fault", where it isnt the entire's state's fault.
If you blame someone, blame the people of the bible belt, not our state. I know plenty of people who live in texas and has all their lives (including myself) who do not agree with this new curriculum. -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX. World Rally Blue/Black

first of all why is texas, of all places determining anything? how did that come about? never understood that. 2nd, why are people LETTING this happen?!? its bad enough young african american kids dont know their heritage, but for it to be omitted, chopped and screwed is an additional slap in the face. i cant BELIVE theyre leaving out important bits about thomas jefferson!! I'm in the educational publishing business so I'll answer this one. Texas is a HUGE money market for text books, thus; they decide which ones to use, and since they decide what their curriculum is they choose the text books that most closely adhere to it. Therefore, lots of text book writers (yes guys actually write them) and publishers cater to the larger accounts. This, ladies and gentleman, is how history is written. Not with facts, but with figures. It's a scary thought when conservatives in strict Bible-adhering areas decide what your children learn and what parts of science & history are left completely out. Agreed! but how did people let this slip by?!? WTF?!?! arent people in the other states going to block it?! By coincidence: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...7161&ref=mf Looks like Mississippi takes the cake. WOW. i love bill maher show, i missed it! WHEN WAS THIS EPISODE?!? LMAO! other than him making fun of god i like him. -------------------- |

Texas spawned George W. Bush. Automatic worst state. lol. yes. agreed. (I am not here by choice) Supersprynt hit the nail on the head. Texas has a huge pull on what publishers use because of our numbers...depressing really. We seem to have the most skewed view. |

Texas spawned George W. Bush. Automatic worst state. Texas never spawned Bush hes a yankee from conneicutt, therefore not a Texan. Ill be the first to say Texas school system is far from perfect, but to the fact to calling a state the worse state with out real facts is just being an hurtfull to all the people who love our state. We Texans are a proud group of people and dont like getting called the worse when there are no facts to prove it. since when the economy was really low thousands of people moved to Texas for jobs, so how does that make us the worse. Also there are states that are worse than Texas on for instance is Oklahoma, there is a saying in Texas that goes that the only reason Texas dont fall in the off into the gulf is that Oklahoma sucks. And to the statement about Bush being elected and being the worse president and the country didnt elect him is bull since the majority of Americans voted for him twice yes he alot of bad decisions but dont go blaming everything on him since Congress is also at fault too. Not trying to sound like a Bush Fan or anything just come on we are all supossed to be friends on this site so dont go offending millions of people just cause by putting the blame on bush soely on texas want to blame some blame George H.W. Bush and Babara Bush for creating him. -------------------- |

He was born in Connecticut because his father was going to Yale, that's the only reason.
The majority of Americans did not vote him the first time. He lost the popular vote, but because we have this ingenious thing called the electoral college, he was voted into office. See this isn't a true democracy (shocker!), and the electoral college actually votes in the President. Then we go around the world and tell them their system of government sucks and they should be a democracy when in fact we're not even a democracy in the first place (U.S. is a republic). I suggest everyone in Texas start voting for people with some sort of intelligence, because if this continues, you are definitely to blame. The bible is not a textbook, and the textbooks should not be bibles. This affects the entire country. Don't vote for whoever follows the same religion, or is the same color, or whose a "liberal" or a "conservative". These labels mean nothing and its all bullsh!t to make you think one way or the other. Oh and anybody who watches Fox "news": stop it. 95% of what they say can easily be discredited. If you watch Glen Beck and don't think to yourself "this guy's totally off his rocker" you should really help the human race and take a long walk off a short pier. Edited for more awesome.
