Ok guys well Im in no rush to do this to my car just yet but I want to get an idea of how this will work.
-Having some JDM fenders shipped to my door will be too expensive. So I was thinking of having some fiberglass fenders made for the celica that have the fitting for the JDM and Euro Sidemarkers. And some are saying why not use existing fenders to make them into jdm fenders. Well.... All aftermarket fenders for the celica have weird cuts/slits in them to dissapate air or w/e and it just looks dumb. Im looking for purpose becuase I want lightweight fenders but Im not to convinced that fiber glass fenders are durable enough to where I can buff and wax them without them denting or being pushed in. Am I just being paranoid or is this what really happens?? As far as a carbon fiberhood, since I will be painting that the same color as the rest as the car, I can purchase the cheapest one and it wont matter becuase the shop will sand down the clear coat put a layer of bondo and then paint the hood with paint. So it doesnt matter the quality of the carbon fiberhood from the place I buy it from. -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

Fenders are really light to begin with, & personally I don't think cf fenders are a good idea. If you want the JDM look of them, delete the stock markers & add in the JDM ones yourself.

Sorry, I'm really tired right now, so I think I'm missing the point of your post. Please correct me. You don't want to use your OEM fenders and have the old sidemarkers filled in and cut new holes for the JDM turn signals... Why? It's your cheapest and easiest route. As I understand it, you do NOT want to do that at all. You'd rather pay out the a** to get custom fiberglass fenders made, then you say that you don't think fiberglass would be sturdy enough. I assure you that it is. My boss's new Viper is pretty sturdy. Maybe a custom fiberglass fender wouldn't be as tough. I see your point there. I'm just confused why you don't want to use the OEM fenders. I'll read this post again in the morning and see if it makes more sense to me.

Ok griffgirl you got me convinced Ill just stick with oem fenders, and yes there is no way in hell Im going with Carbonfiber fenders thats way to expensive.
Richee, I'll go the route you suggest me to go. Use my existing fenders and convert them to JDM style fenders. But heres my problem I want the exact measurments so that I get the cut for the sidemarker exactly as it is on a oem style jdm fender. Like how many cm from the top, from the right, left and from the bottom. Im looking to shave as much weight as possible and I thought that fiberglass fenders would shave about 3-4 pounds on each fender. But from what griffgirl is saying, and she knows what shes talking about it, its probably not worth the hassle. Isnt that what body kits are made of Fiberglass??? -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

I'm not really saying one way or the other; I'm just a little confused, that's all. Seems like having custom made fiberglass fenders would be a lot more expensive than just using the fenders you already have. As far as measurements go, it probably won't matter so much if your fenders match JDM fenders 100% perfectly, as long as the sidemarker is where you like it. Just measure one side, put the light where you think it needs to be, then measure the other side and put it in exactly the same place.
FG front fenders would definitely have their benefits, assuming they were properly made. Our cars are very nose-heavy. Anything you can do to reduce weight in the front end will be beneficial to the balance of the car. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Turn your USDM spec fenders to JDM spec fenders like I did. It's surely the cheapest and the fender are light anyways. Getting carbon fiber fender is in fact lighter but will not be worth it god forbid you get into a accident and damage them or some hitting them themselves. A lot of $$$ down the oil drain.
