i too got one of the first ones off the boat. it came in on the 23rd. got it covered with invisible shield and an apple bumper. waiting for switcheasy to mail me my case. also got a full cover from decalgirl.com.
so far im loving it. sold my 3gs on ebay for $400 and dont miss it. the extra battery life is a selling point all by itself. the new display makes me cringe when i look at the 3gs (or older) displays and even when im looking at my ipad. if you guys arent members of www.everythingicafe.com yet, go join. TONS of information and resources. jokerkid, do you need unlimited minutes? im paying $69 bucks on at&t for 450 rollover (i have like over 4,000 unused minutes), 1500 text, unlimited n/w and mobile to mobile, and the iphone data plan. -------------------- |

i talk A LOT lol. i might be able to hold back and let it roll over. i have to sit down one of these days and see how many minutes i've actually been using. as far as text goes, i definitely need more than 1500 (i think after that the only option is unlimited). which data plan did you go with? i know i use over 200mb but not more than 2gb - but i have to see how much of that is on EDGE and what's wifi. i know i'll spend more time online with the 3g whenever im away somewhere (part of the reason i dont use much edge is because the lack of speed is frustrating). so maybe i dont need everything unlimited but its nice not being tied into a contract or having to worry about minutes/text/data.
damn forkee, that phone is bulletproof! i might just get the screen protector and a bumper. i saw a video showing how easy it is to remove and replace the back cover. it's cake. looks like a lot less hassle than the older phones. how much do you think i could get for my 16g white 3g? it's running ios4 with a software unlock.. not sure if that adds much value since any 3g can be unlocked now. i'm sure i could find some info on icafe or elsewhere. just being lazy. -------------------- |

thanks for the info. i have to look into those text apps. im sure there are some drawbacks to them compared to real-time texting.
recently, i've been concerned over the antenna issue. i've heard a few friends say they don't experience the problem, but most do. consumer reports isn't recommending it until they fix the "design" flaw. there's also a class action suit against at&t and apple over their exclusivity contract. i'm just going to sit tight for a while and see what they do, if anything. -------------------- |

The antenna is SO AGGRAVATING ! One second I'll have 5 bars with my right hand if I switch hands to shift, or anything it drops my call because I have no bars. Also I keep expierenceing problems with it saying call failed while I'm talking. I'm thinking of selling it on eBay and going back o the 3Gs I have.

Apple is coming out with an update in a week or two to fix that specific problem. Turns out that ever since the first iPhone, they've been using the wrong formula to calculate how many bars we actually have. The phone could show 5 bars but really, we might only have 2 or 3. Hang in there. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I'll hold it out for a while but it's really getting annoying with the dropped calls and calls failing. I wanted to throw this thing across the room today. On hold for 40minutes, finally get a hold of a agent and it drops
My call and says call failed I was so mad. Words don't explain. |

Which doesn't affect anything but the display. You can now see how few bars you actually have.

Yeah, apparently they're going to make the bars look bigger too. It's bs. It won't fix the problem. It'll just make it look like it's at&ts problem and they'll tell customers they're in an area without signal. From what I've read there's also an issue with some screens having a yellow hue and a problem with the proximity sensor.

^ Agreed.
Read the last half of this page and you'll know why I think the iPhone is an overpriced and unnecessary commodity. Handy, but not for me. This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Jul 13, 2010 - 2:01 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Welli love my iPhone, I talk on the phone about a hour a month. I send thousands of text a month literally and I'm on the Internet 500K a month too. This i4 tho is a POS. If anyone was to upgrade I would say just get the 3GS, something just no front camera.

Looks nice, works like crap.
I have at&t and the coverage in NC is superb so I'll probably never go to Verizon but the continuous issues Apple's having with these phones makes me even more comfortable with seeing the iPhone as a trend and nothing more. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

Why is anybody saying that it's an expensive phone? It's the same price as the other smart phones. HTC Incredible is $600 without a contract, $200 with, same as the iPhone.
The iPhone isn't a "trend" either, it pretty much setup what every phone manufacturer is now copying. I'm no fanboy, but facts are facts. That being said, I may sell this thing when the unlock comes out and get money to get out of this contract and switch to Verizon and get the Incredible. The Android OS is still in its infancy and not nearly as polished as iOS but it seems on a faster track of development. The antenna problem I can reproduce at home, but not here at work. It has something to do with signal strength, even if both places I have full bars. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Jul 15, 2010 - 9:32 AM -------------------- |

Good luck with that. I won't be touching anything Motorola touches. From the review I just read sounds like they really mucked-up Android.
Oh and you can't run custom Android on it because of the eFuse chip that's installed on the phone, This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Jul 16, 2010 - 11:45 AM -------------------- |
