That's a bad quality manifold, regardless of who tells you otherwise. It'll work but don't expect it to last very long. I can sell you my JGS log manifold if you want. I'm not using it. smile.gif

What is it about these manifolds that make it poor quality? Are they too thin? Poor welds?

Just wondering.

in order to keep cost down and be able to offer them and those low prices they use thin steel, which wont handle the weight and stress of a turbo for too long. they can be made to last longer by using some type of support bracket to help release some of the stress.

I have the same manifold. If your running external wastegate you have to cut a hole in it for that and then maybe a wideband. Very good quality manifold for the price.

why dont you just use the stock manifold if you are using a 3S-GTE. but you want one custom made look in the thread i made about turboing the 7S-FE. it will look similar to that. oh by the way, i think T25 is too small. you want at least a T3. im going to be baking kits with a Garrett T3 super 60 turbo. it spools real fast and is good for 300HP. stay tuned!

I have a 7a. My goal is 200-225, so i really dont need a big turbo. I doubt ill even hit that, considering what most people have actually gotten out of their 7a's prior, not to mention im going on stock internals.
I just need a manifold that will bolt up and support my turbo. If you (anyone) can make a decent one, let me know a price.

Good luck going for 200-225, i mean that in the nicest way possible. Looking through what DCW and stef did with there setups is alot of work(internals, emange, all that good stuff, not to mention the turbos that they chose. Its deffinetly possible, dont get me wrong, the 7a crank will handle 300 if the motor is built right. You can either go cheap rout with the manifold (4afe manifold) or a little more pricey(custom). Either way its a manifold and it still carries exhaust gases. Look and quality are the only factors through.

There is a guy with an AE92 who's using a 7agte setup and pushing 500hp on the stock crank and rods connected with ARP rod bolts. His biggest problem so far has been that he can't get a transmission to hold up under all that stress. I know this doesn't have anything to do with the manifold in question but since the topic of bottom ends popped up I thought I'd chime in. Here's the guy's build thread http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/viewtopic.ph...asc&start=0

I'm sorry, he's updated to forged internals since the last time I checked. I do still believe it's the stock crank.

totally agree i have been down the 7afte road with some ok numbers ( see the how to's for my build and dyno)

And then later when i built my 7agte the right way and hit 392 whp on 92 pump gas ( see 7agte build thread on here for more info)

--------------------
yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

my 7agte 392 whp is on a stock crank ( balanced) which is around 450 @ the flywheel

I know it takes some work, but 200 is a very achievable number if you put as much into it as it needs. Im not so much concerned about that as just adding a little something to the 7a. Its so gutless sometimes, especially when it gets above 90 degrees out... Id like to hit the gas and actually go somewhere once in a while above 2nd gear...
Like i said, im going on stock internals, so 200 would be nice, but isnt a definite goal, ill take what i can get. I just want a little more out of my ST.

And again, if someone has a decent manifold that will bolt up to the 7a, ill take it off of your hands. Otherwise, ill prob just end up buying an ebay one and hacking and welding it at a friends exhaust shop till it fits my needs.

Thanks for the input!
