Awesome, I'm about to get a header put on and I wanna do a cat delete and keep the old exhaust manifold/cat for when I need to pass inspection. So the muffler shop will have test pipes handy?

P.S., I just wanna know. What kind of performance gains would I expect to see from a header + cat delete?

ok slow down turbo....The straight pipe will have to be fabricated to fit your exhaust. there are no off the shelf straight pipes that i know of. Unfortunatly you have an ST, i dont think there is a performance header for the 7A-FE. but i do know this guy that makes a turbo kit for one. try doing some searching in the Forced Induction section.

I'm not going turbo.. and they do make performance headers for the 7AFE, they just need to be extended a bit. I was going to have a muffler shop fabricate me a test pipe with flanges on both sides so it'll bolt on and be easy to take off. I know they don't make test pipes for ST's. I guess I should've worded the question differently than 'test pipes', more like tubes they can make me a test pipe out of.

Really? I know that guy as well. He's pretty awesome, he said he'd ship a kit to anyone promising to worship his 7A-FTE setup.

Hay Smaay...you know I love a 7A-FTE setup right?

No shop will take the cat. off your car thats a $25,000 fine for the tech and a $500,000 fine for the shop. I believe Vincent has a test pipe on his site, look there.

Damn, really? Geez.. looks like I'm stuck getting a cat. And I've seen the one on his site, it's only for the 3SGE.

So in order to do a cat delete, I'd either have to do it myself, get a buddy to do it, etc., is that what I'm understanding?

Most shops won't take it off because of fines. If it's already gone they'll usually do it no questions asked. Just remove it yourself.

I can't though. It's welded onto the old exhaust manifold.

This cat says it's for the 96-99 Celica, but shouldn't it fit my 95?

I didn't know you were talking about the first cat. Maybe it would be cheaper to just get a cheap header and get it extended to fit your exhaust.

Did a search on partstrain.com for you and found this. http://www.partstrain.com/store/details/To...33-1838083.html

I'm talking about the second one before it meets the exhaust. And that's what I want to do! but apparently it's super highly illegal for any shop to delete the cat.

If this is a must for you to get your car running right temporarily until you can figure out what to do you can cut it off and clamp some flex pipe on in it's place. It won't last long at all but I've done this on a tercel, paseo, corolla, chevy celebrity and an s-10. It's pretty straight forward but remember that flex pipe doesn't last long at all.

I think I'm getting confused, it seems there are two different posters asking different questions. It is super illegal for the shop to remove your cat. So is smoking weed but that doesn't stop people either, there are ways around everything just think outside the box.

My car runs fine, I just want a header. This is what I'd like to be done.

1.) receive header in mail
2.) take header to shop, have them custom make me a test pipe with flanges on both sides so it bolts onto the exhaust and downpipe no problem
3.) later when I'm not so strapped for cash, buy a good cat so I don't need to worry about inspections.
