So I got the sides the other day, but it was raining ....and most of this morning. but as soon as it stopped.... I started
So its a very long process of getting them to fit but I really like the look:). And thanks to AJ I had a general idea of what to start with (he was very helpful) but put my own spin on alot of it, which i thought was easier. Any how, I got one almost "done" still have a ton! of work to do, to mold it all flush, but thats alot easier than holding SS up and marking out, and cutting, and holding, and trying to rivit it, all by my self lol. Heres some pics Walk out Cut for the "vent" (vent doesnt actually do anything, i covered it in the back) A few different angles when i cut enough and had it fall into place well enough to rivit it in Cut the rear off, extending, ran out of resin so I had to stop Started laying out the mat, getting it all ready (mainly in my head ) Started to spread the resin, but I ran out Rest of the pics are mainly how it looks now, keep in mind, I ran out of resin, I will be finishing it tomorrow along with the other side Tell me what you think I know its not everyones style .. And if anyone has questions ask its not as hard as it may look... if you have some patience .. the only "body work" experience I have is putting on my invader kit -------------------- |

lol yeah there was no other way to do it, other than cutting through. But I primed everything I cut (didnt cut any "frame pieces" from like too far down)
I honestly never plan to sell this car, so cutting it wasnt a big issue and I could fix it if i ever needed too, wouldnt be too hard, kept the piece i cut out, and also tried very hard to cut out as minimal as possible it will most likely be all done tomorrow night, even the bondo so ill have more pics, and you'll be able to see my "vision" more clearly and hope it looks as good as I envision then paint next wknd, and CSP Meet the next -------------------- |

Just a quick question, it rains and I'm sure you plan on driving in the rain, that scoop is gonna suck water into that hole you cut, did u at least make a drainage hole for any water that does build up in there? cuz i'm sure ounce water gets in there if it sits it'll rot that quarter panel away from the inside?

i definitely agree with what RavenAegis45 said, water will just sit inside of it as well and that won't make it so great. Did you really have to cut that piece for the SS cause most vents don't require you to cut into the body and I don't think that the cut is made in supra's either. I hope that hole doesn't come back and haunt you...
But anyway I can't wait to see how it comes out, it will be very unique! |

I put a thin piece of fiberglass mat on the back side of the mesh, and painted it black. For the illusion of depth, and to keep the water out lol i thought about the water as well.
And the hole had to be cut, the "vent" has to go in at least 2 inches, for the skirt to be even close to flush. And thats only after cutting the skirt with a dremel...well... all over the place lol. I had to cut out a bunch of the skirt, which was a little scary (more so than the cutting of the sheet metal) I dont know if you would have to cut in on a supra, as the body lines are alot! more different than you would think, the skirts dont go along with the body of a celi, but they will when im done with them -------------------- |

right! thats what i was going for. I mean I like the OEM look, and how people do the GT-Four front end conversion...but i didnt want to be like everyyyyone else lol.
As far as i know this has only been done one other time, by AJ (who sold his car), but i stayed in contact with him, so he was able to help quite a bit, just from a few pics he had... but pics are not, a 100% reference, as all kits are made a little different, and we did it a little differently. But go ahead and be a copycat lol idc, AJ really wanted for someone to follow in his foot steps when he "retired", and he has a alot! more great ideas ill be trying out in the near future. -------------------- |
