for the first thing, I would just get a short ram intake, or a cold air intake you can ebay them for very cheap (no super power gains) but they are cheap, look cool, and give your car a nice sound when revvvving

I love my SRI but I only get the sexy noises at wide open throttle. Get a header from eBay so you can hear the sexy noises all throughout. As for muffler... don't buy anything from Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. Ask some members how they like their mufflers and what kind of tone they have before you make a choice. You don't wanna end up with a rattling bee on crack.

how hard is it to install a new header and muffler? I dunno how easy it is to install a header on a GT, since you have to jump through hoops and fire just to put one on an ST. But if there's no need to extend the header, then it should just bolt right one. And muffler.. if you get a catback, it might be easier to just take it to a muffler shop. They'll do it professionally for SUPER cheap. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

on ebay the SRI are 25.00 does autozone sell them that cheap? Autozone only has pipes and couplers so you can make one yourself. This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Aug 7, 2010 - 9:46 AM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

If your wanting brand name you'll pay alot more (Injen, WeaponR, etc..), as far as the CAI goes, your going to have to put on together yourself, or use the kit from an accord (cant remember the year). There are a metric buttload of posts about CAI's and SRI's...all you have to do is search.
The header for the GT, you can get one from ebay (surewin) and its a pretty easy install. Although by doing so you delete your primary cat and may throw CEL's, and as far as a cat back, your best bet is to go custom, get a resonator and a muffler, then take it to a exhaust shop and have them do the piping. There are threads on all of this, use the search and the stickies. |

The intakes are cheapest on ebay, and they well fit, no need to go through a bunch of different angled pieces and couplers, it will all be together already. I bought my CAI off ebay (i extended mine) but its sounds good at any rmp above 1k. As soon as I hit the gas a little you can hear it, and obviously the more you hit on it the louder it gets
And make sure if you are getting a catback that some exhaust shop will bend the piping! no one does it within a 60 mile radius of me! make sure they can first!... I got a magnaflow res and muffler, and its a deep sound but all exhaust systems end up a little raspier, after you add a header. Increasing the flow and eliminating the pre-cat. And with a header (at least with my ST) as long as you have the first o2 sensor in, the second can just dangle with no CEL, or noticeable difference in driving ohh...and search -------------------- |

It could get smashed for whatever reason and that'll throw the CEL since the O2 sensor is actually not reading ANYTHING. Just tell the exhaust shop to cut off the bung from the old manifold, cut a hole in the new header and weld it on. It'll be 20 extra bucks, 30 tops. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Sooner than later I'm gonna order an AEM air bypass valve and get some piping and couplers from Pep Boys and make my own. I'm gonna route it through the hole where the stock resonator was behind the fender.

a Header takes like 10 minutes to put on.... and a CAI takes like 10 minutes if that... and they honestly dont do anyything but increase sound. I took my CAI off and put back my stock air box. I have a Pacesetter header, and downpipe, goes to a 2.25 straight pipe down to a HKS muffler. It isnt loud but its sounds amazing.
