Thanks for all the support everyone
So I had a shortened day at the garage cause I have to go work in a few mins, but the front vents are 100% molded, and the lines are a smooth as can be (spent alot of time on those today because they are so small, its hard to sand and get it right but I did it ) As for the rest of it, I applied 2 more light coats of bondo sanding in between, and i'd say its 75% done the lines are reallly looking good, almost like they are supposed to be there The way I see it, one more coat and some good sanding, possibly a few runs with the glazing putty, and its all done. The I am sanding the whole car down some more with 180, then 500-600. And possibly painting wends? I got some pics, of the finished fender vents, but my phone was dieing so I only have pics of the rest about an hour before i actually finished, it looks a little better, and pics never do anything justice -------------------- |

I'm still not a big fan of the fender vents, but the skirts are like the ugly duckling. I didn't think it was a good idea at first but now I see them shaping up and they're looking better and better with each update. Good work bro. I can't wait to see it painted.

When the hood was on my car I had the hood pins adjusted very tight to suck up that gap. I also put a piece of plastci under the front bumper at the top where it meets the hood. Between the to things I had the hood closed with no gap. Oh an side shirts look good.

I am quite eager...not to mention the 5 other users I see as I type this, to see those bad boys finished with some paint!
I applaud once again the DIY! Quick Edit Before Pizza is destroyed: I personally do not like the vents...BUT, with what you are adding..all that "flare" best I can describe, I think it will fit nicely when done. I can see by your detail of work, that you've thought those vents out. Eager to see that as well! This post has been edited by rave2n: Aug 9, 2010 - 9:09 PM |

haha yeah, ive been thinking (wanting) to do this for monthssss so I had plenty of time to think it through, to make them look good and all that detail is succhhhh a pain! but I assume someone with more bodywork experience (molding) would be able to do it easier, I see as im going along, I coulda done it faster but ohh well its coming together, and im trying to take my time
thanks for the support and I cant wait for the finished product either I think it should all be done by friday -------------------- |

soo i got up at 8am...again! (im not very used to waking up early ) but spent the whole day molding and sanding, and molding and sanding and molding... yeah you get the point
BUT! The Sideskirts and Vents are 100% "perfectly" molded (perfect as in the molding is completely flush and as smooth as can be , the lines could have been matched up a little better flow "flow better" but for the 2nd time ever molding something, it looks amazing!) Unfortunately I only got to take pics of about 3/4 the way through the day as when I was just finishing my ride got there (my friend is extremely impatient ) so I didnt have time to snap any finished product pics, but either tomorrow or thurs I will get them before I start painting. And the pics look bad, and it still looks pretty bad in person, because the way the glazing putty settles, if the spot is darker its just because it had to fill a little bit bigger hole, so it looks very spotty, but its completely smooth (now) This post has been edited by mgnt232: Aug 10, 2010 - 4:13 PM -------------------- |

Pics of the finished product
Pics of when i pulled her out of the garage, so I could clean up the shop and paint. I sanded it all down more after these pics, to be ready for paint. But I didnt realize the stupid threaded connections on the water separator, so I had to go get those, and finished taping everything and laying down paper, and hanging up plastic, cleaning the car off.... only to realize I didnt have any more quick connects for the paint gun! !!!! AHHH I was pi**ed to say the least lol. So painting will begin tomorrow morning as soon as home depot opens and I will be posting in that thread- Pics still look like its not "flush" but its smoothhh, no bumps any where, spent alot of time on that lol- -------------------- |

its looking pretty good, if its not smooth though if you spray primer that'll give you a good tell-tale hint to whats not smooth and what is and you can still work around primer. In all fairness its looking very good, hopefully all turns out well when you paint it

haha yeah ive lovvveeeeddd the supra since I was like 10 lol.... and the celi isnt too far off... oh and thousands cheaper lol lol I'm actually considering naming my Celica "Baby Supra" I had named my Cobalt "Torque Monkey" because they was plenty on tap especially for a FWD, and I hadn't even gotten a chance to tune her from the stock 12psi to 22psi, stock she was only 260hp and 260tq and the tune would have put her to over 300hp and over 330tq. I figure the Celica since it's close to a supra and lol if I do the tail lights right it would be almost exactly a Baby Supra lol. wow are those all 6gc's? those cars are crazzzzzyyy! haha love them all!
But as for not I am done with any body work as I just finished painting the whole car (check out that thread, as I am basically finished with this one, as far as new pics, but hope people continue to read and learn) and money is very tight now lol, as I ran into alot of unforeseen costs with my last few projects, and I am going to be swapping a 3SGTE next spring (starting to save now).... but that still leaves the summer... when I make the most money anyhow lol, who knows maybe a supra rear end isnt that far -------------------- |
