Hi.
I installed the JDM facelift headlights on my car today. The problem is that the connectors on the lights that are on the outher left and right side don't match with the connectors that are on the car. So I got no light atm. I'm pretty sure many on this forum had this unexpected case, so I hope I can get some help about what I have to do now ? You're going to need HID ballasts and wiring to make the projectors work! Most get a kit that comes with the lamps you want to use. The small light in the corner of the projectors can be wired to your running lights or where ever you want them to come on. You'll have to get plugs with a pigtail of wiring if you didn't get them with the lights.
These are the ones I use, but there are a lot of choices! This post has been edited by pyeatts: Aug 11, 2010 - 5:07 PM |

OK I see.
So I can for example use this kit: http://www.omegaxenon.com/ Is it more that I need? I only got the lights and the bulbs when I bought them, didn't get any wires.. Nope, with an HID kit your main lights are ready to go. The accent lights can be used without the plugs if you get some electrical spades and make your own connections. It's only two wires and you can use something like stereo speaker spades to connect them up to any light source you want. Just make sure you seal the back of the plug so water doesn't get in. I used shrink tubing to seal the back of mine with no trouble. I hooked mine up to run whenever the car is running like modern cars have, but a lot of members have them running on a seperate switch or running with the parking lights.

Ok thanks.
Now I have to decide if 8000k or 10.000k will be the best choice. The size on the main lights (low beam) is 9005 right? -------------------- - Celica ST202 w/ JDM 3S-GE 180HP (Special LE Subaru Blue steel paint!)

You are going to have to buy a kit for the OEM lights that were in your car originally, so for 9006 or 9005 bulbs, that way the ballast will plug into your harness. If you buy and H1 kit you will have the same problem you are having now and it will not plug into the wiring for the ballast. Then you need to buy separate H1 bulbs to install in the headlights. Unless you can specify to the seller when you buy them that you need and OEM 9006 connection with H1 bulbs.

Go with 5000k HIDS, its very good looking color, and really strong light! And its pure white. 8000k and 10000k are a lot more weaker light, and "blueish".

I bought a low beam hid 4300k kit that were for designed for 6gc. When I installed them the wires fitted perfectly, but I had to modify the "needle" that holds the bulb in the place.
The light is great. Now I still haven't managed to connect the parking lights, the jdm lights have a smaller socket so the old ones won't fit because they are little to big. So how can I solve this problem ? Is it possible to buy the jdm wire harnesses for the parking light and just swap them with the old ones? Bulb type of low beams projectors are h1
high beams are still 9005 Its hard to tell what colour each K are from pictures since AWB from camera throws the colour off. Its better off seeing them in real life and seeing which one you like. This post has been edited by whatthe: Oct 2, 2010 - 3:04 AM -------------------- |
