I myself HATE listening to "DING DING DING DING DING" when my door is open, is there anyway to disconnect it? In my 2003 Hyundai Elantra it was very simple, just unplug it, there was a DIY posted on that forum with pics to help you find the unit.........anyone know where ours is?

there was a thread on this a while back.... found it ►Click Here for Link◄
Its a little more complicated, depending on what you are looking/capable of doing, you can also just get a little clamp type thing to clamp the sensor down, so it seems like the door is closed, I know I have done that a few times Make sure you read through a bunch of the posts, i'm pretty sure there was some discrepancies on how to do it correctly, and may have been fixed down the posts, but im not 100% sure. You have to take off the plastic panel off under the steering wheel, it's the one that has the precut holes to put switches in (It has 4 screws). Then remove the panel under that (4 - 10mm bolts hold it up). Also pull off the panel that goes around the ignition, gauge cluster, and steering wheel. It will help you see what you are unplugging. After that, you will have to reach up to the ignition column from underneath and look for a 2 wire plug, I believe the wire colors are green, but I will double check that for you later though. You can track the two wires from the front of the ignition column to the back of it (where the plug will be). The wires are located on the under side of the of the column. Hope that helps you!

ok, so I am not exaclty sure on what everybody is talking about with the stearing column. But there is a much much easier way to complete this, NO TOOLS REQUIRED. I will try to explain it, then i will show you a couple pictures.
First, pull up the plastic piece that runs along the bottom of the door, when you open your door. Second, you simply peel back the plastic trim that covers the interior. (next to the back seat) (And by your dinger button) Third, you unplug the dinger sensor plug thing. And fourth, tuck wires back into plastic and put it all back together. Easy as 1234. Your dinger button Plastic interior pulled back Wire plug sensor thing that you unplug. Now just put it back together and wala no ding. -------------------- BABI BOI

Unplugging the sensor button thing would work, but it's not the best way to do it. The car will believe your doors will always be closed and the light in the dash showing that doors are openned will never turn on.
Even worst would be for people who have alarm systems in their cars. Ususally, the alarm system is wired to detect if a door is openned. If you remove unplug the sensor button thing as mentionned, you will loose a very nice function of your alarm. Maybe some people don't mind doing it this way, but it's not such a good idea. The best way is to do it the harder way (but it's still very easy) by unplugging the connector next to the ignition switch that goes to the dinger. |

I didn't even think about the whole alarm thing. My bad. But it does stop the dinging. -------------------- BABI BOI

and also the auto headlight shutoff feature will cease to work, as it only shuts off when the driver door is opened, too
