would like to ask about piping size when we say 2inch or 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 so on, is this the inner diameter or outer diameter? and what gauge or pipe thickness is best if I go stainless, some say that you connot use stainless on a turbo set up pipes will crack is this true

in our location, the size is referring to the outer diameter.

i have some friends using stainless pipes for their turbo setup and none of them experience cracks on their pipes.

thanks fgvillegas, regarding cracks not on the pipe itself but on the joints where it was welded, guess it depends on the workmanship to

A few things to consider when choosing stainless :

1. It's heavier than aluminum piping
2. It's hardier to weld
3. It's more expensive

Not sure if these are concerns but something worth noting.

it also retains heat longer...aluminum dissipates quicker

i agree with 1 and 2.

here in manila, however, welding alluminum pipes and the pipes itself is more expensive... at least in one shop that i know selling these pipes.

i run 2" aluminium from the turbo to the intercooler then 2.5 to the throttle body. if you ahve a good shop, buy one of the ebay pipe kits and cut and shape the piping the way you need it
