^^ now that is nice. too bad toyota aint pushing for sports cars.

Toyota and subaru are working on a coupe together. I dont really know all the details but the toyota version is believed to be a 2.0 or 2.5 n/a RWD. supposed to be high n/a output and fairly light weight. Subaru verison possibly haveing one of the turbo platforms and maybe even AWD

As for teh original post. the 2010 sti is hatch only. 2011 sedan and maybe hatch as well. Subaru has much better reliability than the EVO, but the EVO is a much better building block for big performance. The 09/10 WRX ran 0-60 faster than the STi because the STi needed 3rd gear to hit 60. this can be fixed with a tune on stock parts Otherwise the STi beat it out. the WRX is definitely a solid performer still. The 2011 WRX hatch and sedan will both have the wide fenders like the STi as well as 17x8 in wide rims compared to 7" wide prior.

And forgot to mention that the Subaru version might possibly have 60hp more than the Toyota version.

I'm going to punch Toyota in the nuts if they make that a Scion.

But, I'm afraid they probably will, because Scion's image is "hip and cool" whereas Toyota is well...Toyota. But conversely, that's why they'd need a car like this.

well, too bad toyota is loosing customers. I am loyal but i want to have fun.

Im thorn between the 2011 lexus 250is manual and the 2011 STi sedan. those are my choices. Lexus is a toyota in a way

No more toyota for me. My wife still likes toyota. But i want more ponies, and no, i will not be getting a muscle car.

Lexus IS is the way to go

I was thinking about getting an older IS300 to drive to work to keep my celi from getting abused everyday, but the MPG of the lexus kept me away kindasad.gif

not like I can afford it right now, but besides the FJ cruiser, there is nothing on the market right now that I look and say " I want it " there are a lot of nice cars, but nothing that I actually want to own, it's sad.

^ Exactly, which is why Toyota needs to man up and start cranking out the FT-86. If that becomes a Scion, I'm selling my Celica.

The IS 250 is NOT the way to go if you want ponies. I have a bigger engined, more powerful IS 300 and I still don't find the car to be any fun at all. The 250 will be severely lacking. 204 hp just isn't enough. Edmunds.com said it best- "As an entry-level luxury sedan with a dash of panache, the 2009 Lexus IS 250 is an appealing proposition -- but as a sport sedan, it falls a bit short."

Go for the STi.

You can get an IS 300 manual. 2002+. But my own personal review of the IS 300 is the same as Edmunds review of the IS 250- it's a nice sedan, but not an appealing sports sedan. I was under the impression that the 2011 STi sedans were already out? I thought I saw one the other day, but I suppose it could have just been a regular WRX.
