Domyz right about the stock radiator.

The OEM radiator in the GT4 is more than adequate to handle the 18 PSI I'm running. The radiator part number is the same in ST205 and ST202.

However while the cooling is fine, the plastic top tank gets brittle and cracks overtime as mine has, which is a good enough reason to go with a full aluminum race radiator.

hey delusionz, I already understood that aluminum radiator is not necessary on n/a car unless your using it strictly for racing.

Im looking for an aluminum radiator to save weight in the front of my car.

if saving weight is your concern, you should look for a smaller radiator rather than a bigger one.

your idea of a allunimum radiator being lighter is somewhat right, but remember bigger means more coolant, what's the weight of that again ?

I'd say go to autozone and buy a OEM replacement alluminum radiator, that will hold around the same amount of coolant as the stock one, but made in alluminum.

a Koyo or megan are bigger, thus weighting more after you take the coolant into account.

hmm ya your right culpable, it is bigger. i was looking at integra type r vid and saw that it has a small aluminum radiator. Ill have to look into that at autozone or napa auto parts. thanks for that reply

well I did happen to find a radiator that is half the size of our normal radiators. I actually remember seeing a radiator on a ek9 civic type r at super autobacs a while back and it only had one fan as well.

now the problem would be mounting the radiator and finding a fan for it. any ideas anybody? Finally found a lightweight radiator

link for radiator at autozone weighs 10.5 pounds and seems to be made of all aluminum, whats the weight of the stock radiator

i have one... its a manual radiator... etak found it somewhere... fits perfect and is more than half as thick... it has no transmission cooler (used only for autos)

1/2 size radiator wouldn't be a problem at all with a fan and run some water wetter type stuff.
SPAL thin fan = win if you're looking to really squeeze in some room savings.

So with a smaller radiator that increases the airflow from the front of the vehicle into the engine bay right??

Honda people frequently swap over to 1/2 radiators


that combined with a SPAL thin fan, SPAL is a company that makes electric radiator fans. Thin models save both weight and valuable engine bay space while still being efficient in cooling.


Water Wetter is an additive to your cooling system (I personal run distilled water + water wetter, thats it)
"Reduces or eliminates bubbles or vapor barrier that form on hot metal surfaces to reduce coolant temperatures by up to 20° "

I ran distilled water + water wetter (summer only since you don't use any coolant) and i saw 15 degrees lower temps across the board.

The job of the fan in front of the radiator is to get air circulating in the engine bay right.
