I was wondering if the JDM GT-Four's 3SGTE is OBD2, the reason for this is (if i get that engine) i want to plug my carPC to my ECU's diag port to see the sensor's reading in real time and other little nice features that can be added by plugging the diag port on a PC.

Also does this work with standalone ECUs?

info: i have a 94' Celica GTS that i believe is OBD1

Thanks

- Nick

is the OBDII standard worldwide? if so, all 96+ street cars should be OBDII
i know some pre 96 cars were OBDII before it became a standard but very few of them

If its a 96+ engine its OBDII...

You can check the year by just asking the importer usually, or get the vin off it and find somewhere to run it.

hmm I think the above is a 96 lol

your best bet is to either run the vin, or if you dont have that or can't get that, check the frame number to get a rough estimate.

Sorry I thought it was a one year thing. frown.gif So I'd still pass my emissions since all they do is plug into the OBDII port?

I'm wondering this same thing... I've got a Rev2 3s 90-93 alltrac sitting, waiting to go in, but because IL emissions plugs into the diag port, I'm hesitant on this.....

OFF TOPIC: would running a rev2 3s with an ST205 ECU allow the diag port to operate normally? (with a pass of course....)
