Hey guys... just got a new job so I havent been on the forums much... and of course the celica is an ongoing process to keep running right.
Anyway, I have noticed a noise from the rear suspension (wheels) that is especially noticeable at lower speeds around 5-10 mph and gets worse when i have the wheel turned and am making a u-turn for example. I hear something turning in a circular motion and it makes a slight vibration too... Just trying to know what to expect at the shop so they don't push me around either... Thanks for the help, I've noticed a lot of posts about wheel bearings making noise and what not... this sound is only in the rear. |

Does it sort of get faster as you speed up?
If it does it may be a wheel bearing. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

there is a slight hum at faster speeds but it is a nasty sound at lower 5mph-10mph .... I was thinking wheel bearing but wanted to make sure!

Hmm I've never experienced anything like that, so I'd get a second opinion.
I'm not too sure what that would be -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

thanks again for the opinion... I hope its nothing too serious but the noise has been getting on my nerves. When rolling straight the noise is noticeable but not too bad, but if i turn the wheel at low speeds, thats when the bad vibration/noise starts from the back.

No problem I know exactly what its like not having a car.
MInes been sitting for 2 weeks cause I didn't know what was wrong with it. But there is something you can do to check the wheel bearing. Jack the car up so the wheel is off the ground. Grab it from the top and the bottom (like 6 and 12 on a clock) And pull on it to see if there is any play. If there is, then that usually means its a wheel bearing. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

I'm probably going to try to do that to see if it wobbles (especially since it coming from drivers side rear wheel) but the car still drives like its on rails with the coilovers and I have been driving it daily.

Sounds like wheel bearing to me, theres not much else at the rear that can make noise, see if it does it under braking.
It will most likely have play but not always, they can still make noise and have zero play. |

Yea i've gone through about 3 wheel bearings (due to bad installation and whatever) But none had play.
Just didn't know any oher way to diagnose it. Thats why I was leaning towards wheel bering cause theres not really a whole lot goin on back there. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |
