Is there any (relatively) cheap way to increase low end torque on the 7AFE besides decreasing car weight?
Would an Injen intake or a K&N 57i europe kit help? Different exhaust? Unlike stated last year, I still have not gotten a new car, so I'd like to make the most of this one without serious mods while it's serving me. -------------------- You say you love flowers but you pick them, You say you love animals but you eat them, I fear the day you'll tell me you love me.

an intake and exhaust will help a little, if you can find a good header that will help too. but the best mod for the 7A-FE is turbo. Im suprised at how well it responds to boost.

For real? How much money and where can I order a complete DIY turbo kit?
What happens to fuel consumption and reliability? How well does it respond at low rpm, like 1500-2500? Etc etc . . . very interested! ! Me likey! -------------------- You say you love flowers but you pick them, You say you love animals but you eat them, I fear the day you'll tell me you love me.

i have the egay header and i was quiet suprised by it, the car has alomost no lag now between when you hit the gas and when you go, you will feel a difference, not much, but a difference

For some low end torque, you can advance your timing. And you can also get a voltage stabilizer. I'm not exactly sure how, but they're proven to slightly increase hp and tq. Especially Buddy Club brand, it makes the low end torque a bit more beefy. As soon as I can get one, it's going in my car. And x2 on everyone else's intake, header, exhaust.

Thanks for the input, again, ST guys, if you could be more precise;
EXACTLY which manufacturer, model and part number intake, exhaust, voltage stabilizer. Because I sure as hell don't want to internet order something that is quoted as a 7AFE part and is actually for the 3SGE. Also if there are purchasable turbo kits out there, very interested. -------------------- You say you love flowers but you pick them, You say you love animals but you eat them, I fear the day you'll tell me you love me.

a freind of mine got this header, it was a good fit, we had no problemes putting it in.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-1995-1...sQ5fAccessories exhaust wise you will have to go to a shop to get it done, i went for an under axle style like presure2 did.. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...23187&st=40 i hope this helps a bit. -------------------- It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

Voltage stabilizers are generally universal. As for intakes, you can make your own from piping and couplers from your auto parts store OR you could go with an intake for a 5SFE or 3SGE. Even though it's a little cramped, it's still save and works perfect. (I have an Injen Cyborg SRI for a 3SGE for my 7A, no problems). And for headers, any header for a 7AFE is going to be the same, you're going to have to take it to a muffler shop to have it extended to meet the rest of the muffler piping because they only make headers for the 7A's in Corollas, not for the Celicas. Hope this helps man.
And IMO, if you have a FWD car, you should go over axle muffler-wise. Negates scraping if you're running low and since there's no actual "axle" back there, there's no worries about pinching. Just my opinion though. This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Oct 22, 2010 - 1:08 PM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Intake and exhaust, really no "true" power gains. maybe 5-10hp? if your lucky. It will sound better and give a slightly better response. I mean dont get me wrong i went down that route first, and from the stock silence to the aftermarket roar, you'll feel like your alot faster
And turboing, isnt cheap! You gotta pay to play! Sure you can slap a turbo on... but it wont last, and all the tuning, and little things are gonna come back to bite you. For a good DD 7afte like stephs, your looking at 4-5k+ with alot of work IMO if your spending that kind of money, just go the 3s route. Replacing essentials, and swapping properly (most 3s's have like 30k miles). Your looking at a pretty reliable DD, with serious potential!!! But good luck in anything you can do, make sure you have a decent muffler shop around you to make your custom exhaust agreed -------------------- |

Doggamnit. I took a spin in a 2001 MR2 and **** my pants how nicely it responds - and fantastic pull from ANY rev (unlike the psycho WRX - no pull until 4k and then it tears your head off).
I'll probably go for a Lancer Ralliart once 1 year old used cars are available on the market, and until then I wanted a bit more torque from the Celi. Guess it's not gonna be that easy, or toyota already would've dont that, huh? -------------------- You say you love flowers but you pick them, You say you love animals but you eat them, I fear the day you'll tell me you love me.

it was a direct fit, we drove it over to the local muffler shop with only the header and the bit after it. so loud! he got some work done there but it was a direct fit with the oem exhaust.

The fundamental problem with the 7A can be best described by this photo:
What you can see is the difference in the openings between the 7AFE Exhaust ports and the 3rd Gen 3SGTE We have the Ebay header on the race car... and yes you have to extend... something? we dump the exhaust (de-cat-ed) through that resonator and then out the side of the car - Sounds Great and we are quite happy with the few extra HP we scavenged because of it. -------------------- -Mike

advance timing and run higher octane fuel
intake exhaust header air/fuel tune reground cams increase the compression ratio or put in stronger pistons with stock CR and boost it. keeping stock CR means you won't be as laggy off boost. -------------------- |

run higher octane fuel Unless you suggest running race fuel, premium pump gas will have no effects on performance vs regular. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09
