Yes, that's one piece with the inner on that side.

wow it took me forever to find this thread!! haha im headed down there to pick it up on Saturday. i cant wait, it has been forever since ive had her all to myself! tweak totally hooked it up!
hey tweak, what kind of engine management system do you think would go good with the 4th gen and my set up? and wat about a turbo manifold? cuz that factory one has to go !

The turbine housing is casted together with the manifold. Only way to go, if you want an aftermarket manifold get one made for a 3rd gen and a ct20b, why stop there when you can upgrade turbo

Yeap, we have most sized of fittings and lines in stock so just let me know what you need and we'll get you taken care of smile.gif

The one-piece manifold/turbine housing is a very effective design, the only reason to change it would be to upgrade the turbo, as mentioned. For engine management, I would run an AEM F/IC up to around 400-500hp, beyond that a custom EMS setup would be needed, but that's a pretty lofty goal as it is smile.gif

which AC/PS lines were used?

well, the pressure hose from the steering rack to be specific.
stock ST power steering lines fit the 3s pump?

A/C lines took a bit of careful bending, but with a little creativity they did indeed work. Be sure to set aside several hours of labor for the work on the a/c lines, it's a bit of trial and error and you don't want to overdo it wink.gif

That's surprising.

Hey Doc, you know i admire your work, question for you. why dont you clock the turbo down so you dont have pipes going up and over the manifold?

Sorry, I forgot one important part of that. You need to swap the "manifold" from the top of the 7A compressor over to the 3SGTE compressor, THEN the 7A lines will connect, with a little bending. We didn't have to use any tools for the bending work, you just need to go a little at a time and spread the bend over a longer distance so that they don't kink.

Back in the day we used to clock the turbos, but we stopped doing it for a number of reasons.

For one, getting a bracket made that will hold the wastegate actuator in the right place reliably takes an entire day of work (it's a lot of trial and error and most of you know how hard it is to take the turbo off a 3S).

You really don't gain much in terms of reducing the bends, especially the way that we route the piping now.

Fitting the intercooler piping between the downpipe and radiator fan is difficult or impossible if you have the factory downpipe (which we do).

Since the piping that goes past the manifold is on the hot side anyway, the intercooler does a great job of chilling the air and so temperature really isn't a concern.

Some of these things are contrary to what you may have heard from me in years past, but time and experience have mended my ways :-D The 90-degree coupling coming off the compressor outlet is simple, reliable, quick, and it works perfectly every time.
