By the way VieT9sD did your insurance company already label it as "totaled" or are you making the assessment yourself?

whoa another celi down. I definately feel your pain man. I've had two hits in a row where I thought my celi was gonna be totaled from frame damage O.O
I think if your determined and dedicated enough you'll be able to salvage your car. There was a thread on here when someone went nuts on their front end and restored it to new. They replaced the windshield and airbags and everything. So.. if you really like the celi you should save it. I can give you tips on what to do with the front end haha. post some better pics when you can stand to look at your celi so us 6g guys can make a proper assessment -------------------- |

First and foremost, I hope all parties involved are alright. It looks as though the car did its job- the front end crumpled and the airbags deployed. Hopefully there are no injuries and as others have said, your life is worth far more than a car. Second, some are suggesting to fix this one. Judging by the pictures and the extent of the damage, I suspect that there could be frame damage, and you can ever properly fix that in a unibody car. Hopefully this one can be fixed, or you can pick a new one up and stay in the 6gc game.

According to www.insurance.com:
When is a damaged car considered a total loss? Your insurance company may decide your damaged car is a total loss if: 1. It cannot be repaired safely 2. It would cost more to repair the car than it's worth, or 3. State laws require the company to call it a total loss due to the amount of damage The other guy was trying to make a left turn at a T intersection (basically turning left into the | of the T), but he stopped when he saw my car heading straight while he had his front end of his car in my lane. I was going about 35 miles an hour (yes... speed limit was 35) and only had about 2 car length to react and break when he was in front of me. Then BAM! Now some of you might be thinking, why didn't you just swerve out the way? Well if I attempt to swerve out the way, I would have hit another car on the right and that would DEFINITELY have been my fault. It was his fault because I had the right of way. He was driving a Ford F150 and his front bumper only got a small dent. The driver was hispanic and didn't have a drivers license (unlicensed.... no wonder right?). The F150 car has Anchor General Insurance... look it up on google cause it has hella bad reviews. Well at least in the end, nothing major happened to me or anyone else thank god. I only have minor bruises on my right wrist and scratches my left forearm. I think they were from the horn thing on our steering wheel when the airbag deployed. As for fixing the car, the cost of repair will be wwaaayyy more than the car's value so I'm thinking of just letting them take the whole car but of course I'll part it. This is what I have in mind right now Option A, buy another 6gc and put all the mods I currently have onto that car Option B, save up and buy the 7th gen celica Gt-s Option C, save up and buy the rare SW20 Mr-2 What would you guys do? |

I know how you feel as well, I had the same situation except I was at fault. I was in a construction zone where there were raised manhole covers, I was about 4 car lengths behind the person in front of me, and I went to in between two of the raised covers because they were side by side, and wide enough for me to fit through. So I went through, not paying attention to what was going on in front of me, I looked back up, and there was a Jeep Cheroke dead stopped two car lengths infront of me. Hit the brakes, skidded and wham. It wasn't a good site after the accident, but I fixed her back up. I had to replace the hood, driver's side fender, all four head lights, radiator, radiator support, bumper, turn signals, crash bar, framerail adapters, coolant reseviour, airbag in the dash, got a non airbag steering wheel, got my window replaced, and had some other odds and ends as well. I got lucky, and bought a full parts car for $450 and did all the work myself. Then I parted out the car I bought and made my money back.
Try to get some more pictures for us in the daylight if you can I hope everything is going to work out well for you! Keep us updated |

Glad to see you're alright, all things considered that is, and that no major injuries occurred due to the accident. It is very unfortunate that the other driver was unlicensed and caused this but it's very positive that the Celica took it like a champ instead of you. Sad goodbye to another 6GC GT on this site...
As far as what would I do in this situation, I'd do option B or option A for a cheap 6th gen beater and hold on to the rest of the insurance money for a new(er) car down the road. Do keep us posted though. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

If you get a MR2, buy a SW21. Many people aren't experienced enough for a MR layout and end up losing control. Get a non turbo. If you want more power later on you can swap it.
