Well after searching online for my answer ive gotten myself confused, so i want to see what everyone on here says....I am using a 5sfe crankshaft for an upcoming engine build. My question comes in at, would i have to use a 5sfe rod/3sgte piston combo, or could i get away with using 3sgte rods and pistons. I remember reading somewhere that there is a company that makes 3sgte rods to fit the 5sfe crank. Anyone mind shedding some light on the topic?
Also, are there any other variables with using a 5sfe crank in a 3sgte block that i should be aware of? -------------------- (\__/)

why would you want to use a 5s crank in a 3s block?

IIRC eagle makes 3s rods that fit the 5s crank.

Thanks ill take a look into that then....you wouldnt happen to have any other information in regards to things such as what crank pulley to use would you...i would think just the 5s one. Also i read up somewhere else, that if using the 5s crank and 3s flywheel, the flywheel bolt holes will need to be widened...

why would you want to use a 5s crank in a 3s block? I want to use the 5s crank only because its a cheap stroker kit. Figure why not... And if you are wondering why i wouldnt just use a 5s block, well that would incorporate alot more work, and about 2000 more dollars becuase of certain "japan-land" fees that i would have to pay... -------------------- (\__/)

Ouchh, that's a ton just for the fees I understand why you are doing it like that now though |

Yes exactly. Anywho the 5sfe crank from what i can understand is an incredibly strong piece of equipment for what it is. Espcially when compared to the 3s crank which is a cast piece while the 5s is forged. And considering the price of a 5s crank used its a steal!
My plans revolve around this factor, and a forged rebuild in general. The extra space in the combustion chamber is just a bonus. There isnt anyone on these forums that has done this before? -------------------- (\__/)

It's not like we didn't have the parts. Well thanks for the input again. Thats why im glad i asked for more opinions on the matter. So the 3sgte crank is also forged? Thats good to know. But DEATH could you elaborate on how a stroked 3sgte ( to 2.1) would be more expensive to do using a 5s crank versus buying an Off the shelf stroker kit? Btw, i was comparing to an off the shelf kit when i used the word "cheap". But you might know something that i might miss...
