Anybody know if, by chance and luck, an auto starter is the same as the manual starter?
Edit for future help to others: Both the ST-204 Manual and Auto Starters ARE the same Same goes for the AT-200 - Manual and Auto are the same Apparantly there are two types of each tho - 1 for Cold weather and one for normal use. Hope this helps someone else in the future! Thanks Presure2, Spider77 and Bitter for the confirmations! Thanks so much guys - I thought they might be from checking parts sites and not having an auto/manual option. That means I should have one in the garage!
We should leave this thread for anyone else that may need it in the future IMO. BTW - We are talking ST-204 (GT) - I have no knowledge of the AT-200 (ST) -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. ditto for the 7A-FE starters, the same from auto to manual. There are sometimes 2 options though if the car came with a cold weather package or not, could be a 1kw or like 1.5kw starter.

Rock Auto lists 4 different ones.... .8KW, 1KW, 1.2KW and 1.4KW
However, I think at most places the choices are 1.0 and 1.4KW, typically the 1.4KW is coupled with a heavier battery as well but can be useful when just a little more cranking power is needed for an engine with a hotter cam or higher compression -------------------- |

Just to confirm - they ARE the exact same. I had a Auto and a Manual in my hands today and there is absolutely no difference.
The one I installed was a 1.4kw according to the paperwork on the new one I ended up with [see my thread for details on that] -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. yea they are the same, best proof comes from doing the auto to manual swap in not just the celica but many cars use the same starter.
