Came out of my transmission (manual). Doesnt look like it broke off from anything, also the transmission shifted fine before I took it apart.

that is a magnet inside the transmission for picking up metal shaving from the gears Does it just float around in there? Seems like it could get wedged in the gears. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

there is a slot where it fits, when you open the trans it falls right off, the slot for it is formed by both sides of the transfer case / bell housing, once the trans is put together is securely in place.

Thanks! When I opened the case it was resting on the ring gear of the differential. Didn't see where it fell from. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

yeah i should have mentioned that. it fits into a slot in the bell housing and when the 2 pieces are secured together that locks it in place.
