There are a lot of things that come to mind when .... frankly most of them have already been said. We all have lives and we all have excuses but some of us have more excuses than others and others have more lies than lives. Nobody is putting a gun to anyone's head and making them do anything they do not want. But if people actually join a website such as this one and actually attempt to socialize on topic of their cars (in this case celicas)... it seems only logical that once per year they would find it in their heart to come out and meet their online comrades. In reality people would make up excuses not to go even if they had to drive 5 miles to the meet. It is sad but also true.

Considering that many of our old members (myself included) have moved on to other cars and newer members showing less interest in staying active it does not really matter who gets delegated with what. What matters is that people say they would like to come out if there was a meet and then when there is an actual meet scheduled they start shuffling their feet making excuses and as time nears the meet date more and more flake out like dandruff. Some just dont show up at all even when all information is provided.

Our last meet at the park had everything going for it. Centrally located for North, East, West and South (not far south or far north but still many members non the less). Weather was beautiful and location and cruise route were fantastic. Guess who showed up.... guess who did not show up... What was more mind boggling is that people that we normally do not socialize enough with ended up driving across the state meeting us (frankly I dont even know why) but there they were with their cars... at out meet... and you know what.. it was appreciated.

So lets stop lollygaging and either do this or call this off. Otherwise there is no point in attempting all those meets in the first place.

Grumpy russian out.

^ Hear hear, my friend. Good to see the ol' pessimism back.

Having said that, I have since subscribed to Yaro's pessimism and am therefore also quite in agreeance.

It was nice of the others indeed to come out, even if they did have to drive alldayson.

Ya, sorry you dont get a choice, samir needs me..ill be here to annoy everyone in your thread now smile.gif

But yuri is def right, if you dont have devoted members your gonna have a ****ty meet, end of story. You have to have one of you 6gc.net addicts talk to some members that are hardly ever on and help them out and show them that if they go to an online meet they wont get robbed and attacked by crazy ppl. Even maybe organize a few games to play with the celicas at the meet(it sounds stupid but its actaully pretty fun if ppl get into it. The Griff V smaay parallel parking war on 2010 was epic..

I mean florida has a HUGE car scene doesnt it?There is bound to be a bunch of 6gc members lurking around.

Hi all.

I wanted to make it last year, but had to work at the last minute. I hope to make it this year and can probably get another Celica friend to come.

I’m not sure if I'm one of the truly devoted, but I’ve had my Celica for 17 years now (bought new) and have done a lot of work to her over the years. I hope to see some other peoples’ rides, get some new ideas and just enjoy all things Celica smile.gif

I am also looking forward to a bit of a ride from St. Pete to Orlando, I think my Celica enjoys I-4 tongue.gif

Hope to see a few people there,
Donald

It depends on how you look at it. All the places I have lived in Florida have been dominated by Nissan and Honda. A lot of the 6gc's I see now are ragged out POS's driven by college students who don't take of their cars. I saw one where the headlight was just kinda dangling off to the side and the passenger side of thr bumper was all banged up. This would have been fine if the person got into an accident recently, but the first time I saw it was about 1.5 years ago and it still looks the same today. That being said, I would love to come to the meet, but as of right now I only work Friday through Sunday and go to school the other 4 days of the week. And to me, school comes before anything else at this point in my life. Plus I really don't have the money to drive out there. I'm a broke college student lol. I honestly feel guilty that I can't go. Hopefully all goes well and I can make a future meet. I think a Gulf Coast meet would be very nice.

A gulf coast meet would be pretty awesome actually, I'll look into that for the next meet. Seems like most of the active members come from O-town and further south.

I would be a lot more likely to make the Gulf Coast. It really is hard for me with money right now. Plus a pic of a bunch of Celi's on the coast would be nice. I definitely need to try your burgers some time.

Orlando is still closer to you than it is to me! Still, this location is good and we have a cruise route, so I'd rather not change now. Just make it out there, I'm not rich either. The burgers are worth it, trust me.

**which cannot be charred without the black, scorching hot, flaming, flavor producing, meat-cookin' charcoals.

...just saying.

would anyone be down for about a 2hr cruise? or too long?

This runs through Sugarloaf mountain, around a scenic highway, and a personal favorite road with Ferdi's corner to top it off.
If its too long i can amend it to remove my fav road and Ferdi's corner. He won't like that though...

Proposed cruise route via Google Maps

Dont know about cruise lads. My truck eats gas like a mofro so if you are planning to travel at speed and or through traffic I will run out of gas 10 miles down the road. I guess if we had scheduled sight seeing stops along the way or something.

Ohh... and about people.... rolls eyes.
