There's not much you can do besides Turbo to really get to perform. check out smaay's post he makes a custom kit for it. Mine came out awesome, its pretty fast now and lots of fun

7afes arent performance engines, sorry eyrnn frown.gif. Even if you turbo them ull be lucky to get 200hp, it'll cut the life of the engine in half AT LEAST(if you dont rebuild), and youll spend about the same as it would be to swap...

Agreed, not much unless you turbo or swap.

Simple things you can do though.

  • Cold air intake/Short ram intake
  • Spark Plugs, Wires, Distributor, Oil change every 3k, keep fluids in check
  • 4-2-1 Header
  • Full 2.25" Exhaust w/ high flow cat, resonator and muffler of your choice.

More in depth for a bit more power can include.

  • Engine rebuild with better internals
  • Camshafts reground
  • Lightweight Flywheel and clutch
  • Reduce Car's Weight
  • Turbo kit

I have a 5SFE and i don't plan on turbo until i squeeze every bit of power out of an N/A build.
If you want to pull every bit of power out of your motor i would suggest you do alot of research and ask questions when you need to. There's alot of information out there and what i just said is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to performance.

Kid, you have no idea what you are talking about. yes the 7A is not a performance engine but its actually a pretty stout engine. it will handle a turbo with no problems if you treat it right

Jeff, the 7afte(on this site) has NEVER taken over 230hp, if you have something to back up your claims that the 7afe is indeed a strong boosted engine that can actaully put some power down(comparable to a 3sgte or 4agte) then i would REALLY like to see it.

I NEVER said the 7afe cant handle a turbo reliably. Most ppl will boost a 7afe that has never been rebuilt, and on an engine thats AT LEAST 10 years old its not gonna last as it would if it was NA..Re-read what i said.

If you go the route of a 7agte some have made well over the 230 mark. Here is a copy and paste of someone who has (Nik)

7agte

dyno high boost 382 whp 369 trq at 23 psi on 92 pump gas

Although like many have said before its a costly route to go.

I dont think ive seen anyone with a 7A and a FE head go much above 230 hp.... The 7AGTE is a whole different motor. That setup can handle all sorts of power if you build it right. I remember posting about some guy who sold engines for JDM Corollas that made ~500 hp.

http://www.twincam.org/topic/18070-7agte-b...ae92-levin-gtz/

If you have a stock 7A, i wouldnt expect big numbers. Youd probably be lucky to hit 230 on a 10 year old engine with no modifications.

Check this thread out for some tips if youre interested. Its got tons of info on the 7AFTE build. Those folks up at the "turbo factory" in New England really know their stuff.
