Hey guys, Im thinking of buying a set of Rota D2's. Does anyone have them? I would like to see them on our celicas before I make a final decision. Also if anyone has Work Meisters, that would work too.

Rota

[Ro-ta, rowta, POS]

–noun

1. Cheap Philippine copy of a real wheel
2. A circular frame or disk arranged to revolve on an axis, as on or in vehicles or machinery. However rota wheels differ as they can sometimes be found revolving bereft of the machinery they were previously attached to (see below)

the few breakages of Rota's was blown massively out of proportion and were their first generation of wheels, all Rota wheels that break in a manner similar to the pic are replaced the same can not be said about many other wheel manufacturers, remember it's not just Rota wheels that have broken like that, it is a risk you run with all cast rather then forged wheels.

i think he wants Work Meisters S1's but they are out of his price range and since Rota D2's are reps he wants a set, he only wants a picture of a 6GC running the wheels it's a not a question of which is better.

although i thought they're Rota D1's?

The wheels that I really want are the Work Meisters but being a college student I am unable to just spend $2000+ on wheels. I saw that Rota has a wheel that looks simular to them. I really want a nice looking set of wheels to go to IA this summer.

I have quiet a few friends running rotas on their cars that they use to dd and to Trac on the weekends, not a single problem with them, and from what i have read on the rotas breaking alot of it was due to owners powdercoating them and something happens to change on a single cell structure with them metal used when it gets to X tempature.

The breaking isn't even the main issue why most the people on this thread said stay away from ROTA's. It's the fact that they are replicas, I'm sorry, I mean copies of real wheels. Companies spend tons of money to create stylish new wheels and the very same year ROTA will copy the wheel and sell it for a fraction of the price. Literally, like instead of 800 per wheel, ROTAS are like less then 500 a set. Real rim companies are literally slowing down production and jacking their prices up just to stay alive with the increasing popularity of replicas...That's why I don't like them...

But if you want to get into quality as well, it's like comparing a fake rolex to a real rolex, difference is night and day.

the reverse could also be true, since even companies like Ray/Volk or Work Meister don't always use "original" designs in their range, lower priced replica's can help keep the market alive and stop companies from jacking their prices sky high, lets face it, some wheels are ridiculously over priced for what they are, some wheels fair dues should be priced higher if they use some sort of "hidden experimental technique" to make the wheel light and strong as that is what I would pay for over the over all look.

i'd say it's more like comparing a Casio watch to a Rolex as a Casio is good enough to do the job but is a bit meh.

Except the part where I am arguing the originality of the wheels, not the quality and I would LOVE to see you find the wheel that Konig copied when creating the wheels that are on my car. Oh wait, You won't, because it won't happen, because they aren't replica..

Next time take the time and read my reason for not liking something before acting like an immature idiot and bash my **** because YOU don't like it, because quite frankly I could care less what you think, lol. I got my Konigs from a friend that worked at Discount Tire already wrapped in tires with 100% tread for wholesale price, thats why I have them, since you are so concerned with my wheels, you will be happy to know my next set will be Work XD9's more than likely. Got some bad things to say about those too? Sorry I dislike your favorite rim company, sorry you took it personally.

And lastly sorry to OP this got so whack... back on topic I think the Work Meister Style or whatever copy Rota made of them look really cool and I am sure it would look great on a Celica and you should go for it.

Volk RE30

Konig runaway? or should i say "replicaaway"

So much for you originality A$$hat. And what's this then? "BOO ROTAS! Work meisters are baller!" You just BOO'd your own ****ing wheels you douche. Don't get angry that i said your wheels are ****, cause they are. And thanks for assuming my favousite wheel company is rota. Cause I'mm rolling on Enkei. Yes I DO like Enkei wheels. But obviously everyone would prefer Volk's or Rays or w/e cause theyre quality wheels right? That's a no brainer. But not everyone is well funded like you.

Good day sir.

Lol, I'm not sponsored by Konig, i'm not in love with Konig, again read my post... MY KONIGS ARE NOT REPLICAS, I DONT CARE ABOUT THOSE ONES YOU POSTED. I got my wheels because I like them more than stock and they ARE original, so no, I didn't just BOO my own ****. they aren't even on my car right now, and for sure won't be forever.

I honestly thought before my first post the thread was between deciding Work Meisters or Rota D2's (because of the title). I was giving my personal opinion, which is that the Works are baller, which they are. And that the Rota's were replicas, WHICH THEY ARE!

DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALLY. And I'm sorry you have such an issue with my car, suppose it would look better if I threw some ebay specials and some Rota's on there huh?

edit: Just an FYI, you look like a douche because a thread about opinions not even related to you just caused you so much anger you had to start ripping on my car, lol.

LOL dont give your car too much credit now. This thread was definitely About those two wheels. Rotas are ****ty wheels, and that yours are also. My point was that you shouldnt be bashing ****ty wheels when yours is ****ty too. And i can guarantee you I am not angry, though you seem to be, defending your ****ty original konigs lol. Sorry that would probably anger you more. Ièll just say it now. Ièm sorry for the inconvinience i caused you. And OP, Get what you think Fits your style and Budget.
