good to see more and more IL members active now. keep up the good work thumbsup.gif

lol, I've been active since march, just been broke frown.gif
but thanks, I also need to add to the list the rubber seal type thing (have to love the technical terms I use) that goes in between the hood and bumper. (for the gt-4 parts.)

Fixing your brakes shouldn't be too hard. Just flush all the brake fluid, replace your pads and rotors, and rebuilding the caliper is the hardest part. Still very easy if you take your time though, and you can rebuild it yourself for cheap. DIY FTW thumbsup.gif

oh I know its not too hard, I'm just going to buy rebuilt calipers instead of doing it my self. I'm hoping that the work wont take more than a couple hours. the hardest part in the whole job will be getting the old calipers off the car. I'm going to have to use a lot of rust bust on those bolts.. kindasad.gif

so why might you be selling your car?...

I decided to look for a 5-speed 6th gen celica gt that has under 100k miles and no rust. then sell my current celica to buy one of smaay's turbo kits. I figure it would be cheaper in the long run to do that instead of fixing the rust, having my car painted, engine rebuild, 5-speed swap, etc. but when i do go to sell my car, i will have taken all of my stuff off of it, so it would be stock again, except for the sri, since the stock intake was snapped in half.

The more I look at it, the more I love this color. You've taken good care of it, I can tell. When it comes time for you to sell it, will the rear brakes be fixed? Also, when returning the car back to stock, will you be putting the rear spoiler back on (or including it), and leaving the Dash LED's in or no? I really like the way those look lol. Not a biggie though, but I am seriously interested in this Celica. The biggest bummer for me is that you are 5 hrs west of me frown.gif

The good thing is, since my boyfriend and I will have time to save and add to our tax refunds, we might be able to take an Amtrak or Greyhound to Chicago, if you were willing to drive to the station or something. That's completely up in the air right now of course, it's just a thought for now until we might be able to work out the details later. Is there any way that you could PM me a video of the car running and driving? Also could I have the VIN # so I can look up a carfax if you don't mind, please? Thank you and great job with the car, that color is definitely growing on me. If we were able to buy it, I can assure you it would be in very good hands.

when i return the car to stock, I will be putting the spoiler back on. (basically taking all my stuff off that i have posted In here) the car also comes with a passenger side door that is rust free. If the led's are a selling point I guess that i could leave them on. here is a video of "in car" driving when i was going to meet up with 4-eyed-freek last December.

sorry for the camera shake (the ride is NOT that bumpy, just a cheap camera) I can take some more this weekend if you want. I'l PM you the vin later, i have to get to school kindasad.gif

EDIT: sorry for not answering all the questions, I was about to reach the latest time i could leave for school and still make it on time tongue.gif
to answer the rear brakes question, no, but this weekend is supposed to be nice, so im going to put new pads on the passenger side, upon further inspection, the passenger side rotor doesn't look "too" bad and what i thought was the passenger side caliper sticking, was actually the driver side one trying to work. so the passenger side may only need pads. I will find out this weekend.
there is rust along the bottom of the passenger door (but like i stated above, i have a rust free door that would come with the car, if you want it), and on the passenger rear 1/4 panel. (long story short, when i bought the car, it looked like surface rust, till i went to fix it and found body filler in it, so after seeing it was rusted through (small area) I put some bondo on it and decided to get it fixed by a professional. (which I never got to do.) I also have the original window sticker and was told that I was the third owner of the car. I don't know if that was true or not though.

I guess the pros of my car would be:
1. cool color wink.gif
2. on the cheaper side of 6th gen celicas
3. new rotors, calipers, and pads in the front. (last summer)
4. new front tires (last summer, ~5000 miles?)
5. subs and a header if you want them.
6. sun roof <-(I bought the car in march, so I used it from then till October. (I love it))
7. regular oil changes done (since I've had it)
cons:
1. rust on rear 1/4
2. rear brakes
3. clear coat is fading/pealing on hood and roof
4. power antenna does not go up or down, but the motor for it still works.

everything looks & sounds pretty good to me! smile.gif if you want to take the blue LEDs out that's fine lol I might want to get the white ones instead, no biggie. I forgot to include in my PM that if/when you get the chance within the next couple weeks could you please make a couple videos that include a cold start of the car exhaust, a mid to mid-high range rev once it's warmed up (showing the exhaust) and maybe an exterior/interior walk around, sort of like a video "tour" if you will? I would really appreciate it, thanks!

-=TIME FOR AN UPDATE=-

I am not selling my car like I had planned. a few things came up on both ends (my end and the buyers end, so I decided it would be best for me to keep it) so I began working on it again today, I went and picked Jackie up (those of you who were at the midwest meet a few weeks ago met her, she was the one I was standing next to the whole time) and we got to work. first it was a failed attempt to fix the rear brake. (could not for the life of me get that sucker off, and we were on a time limit) so I decided to cut our losses and got to work on this.

Jackie and I kept having the ["my car is blue" "no its not its grey"] argument. so I think I lost in this pic..

it does look mighty grey. even though its blue..

Needs a gt4 hood, bad. That stock hood is way too plain and unaggressive for the gt4 front end IMO.

i have a gt4 hood, but im not sure that i want to put it on, im leaning more towards getting this bumper cut to fit with the stock hood. i'm going more for a clean sleek look, and i can't really get that with scoops and vents all over the hood kindasad.gif (im not trying to bash any gt4 out there, they do look amazing, its just not what im shooting for.)
