I found this vortex 5psi electric supercharger online, I really don't know if its worth spending money on(200$)? Anyways i did a bit of research on it and it seems that it will be draining the battery or so.
Anyhoo, has anybody ever got it around here??? Pls reply even if its just an opinion. |

Why not just take a 15000rpm computer fan and tape it in your intake?
Because that's all the electric "superchargers" are. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Has anyone REALLY researched and looked into these?Im obviously not talking about a 200$ fleabay special here. I mean Im a mech major, and if you upgrade the electrical system and get a compressor that is not Chinese bull****, it should in theory do the same thing as a Supercharger, but it would obviously be drawing power off the Alternator.Electric motors are INCREDIBLY torquey and could run a compressor wheel if designed properly. Has anyone ACTUALLY done anything or are you just going off what all the other people say?

There was a guy around the PNW that had a $3000 electric supercharger installed in the trunk of his AW11. It didn't net any serious gains that would justify spending that amount of money on it.

TNX guys, guess i`ll just stick with the normal air intake. |

I can add that we have tried some electrical fan's and then Dyno the car. There was a small gain at low rpm's. But as soon at the engien gained Rpm's the fan could not keep up. So you lost some effect at the top. As the fan became a barrier insted. Tho there was some gain in old disel engien whit no turbo. Would i spend money on it? NO would agreed whit the rest here. its only SCAM.

Reminds me of the " electric turbo " hairdryer thing someone was trying to sell here about a year or so ago.
Some of you may recall-- it had the video link of a well respected members Celica that was pirated as being one of them on-demand type add ons. Yes I agree research is you friend when this kind of thing comes out. |

It could possibly make 5psi if it was a weed wacker engine.
It's unreal how much air turbo's and superchargers actually move. With a turbo at idle you can't tell so much. But hook a centrifugal supercharger up to the belt system but leave the stock intake off for ****s and giggles. At 3000 rpm it was like a tornado in the garage. If each one gave 20hp you could stack 10 of them up and add 200hp to your car, the idea is you need to have more of them to add up equal to or greater than the stock horsepower of your engine so that it can still make more power than max power

I understand that these "electric superchargers" do not work but I am wondering if anyone has every tried using Electronic ducted fans like those used on rc jet plans? I'm positive they produce much more thrust than the ones most find for cars.
